LOL, ok so this is not THAT serious of a topic. BUT, I thought it would be interesting. I think it will be a two fold topic. First I want to suggest that CF may consider making a singles dating kinda thing. It could be set up just wonderfully here I think with it being an already established site. I also think that it may bring in more site supporters? It could be the FIRST REAL FREE online personals for CHRISTIANS.

I just thought I should suggest that. Any thoughts or anything?

Anyway that brings me to my next meaning of this topic. It is kinda a poll lol. Out of all the people here...who would you most like to consider being in a relationship with?

I don't think the idea is going to fly, but who knows, I've been wrong before. Personally, I wouldn't get involved in it myself.

None. If there was a big party with all the CF folks invited I'd try to make it, but "hooking up" or talking relationships with someone you know from the internet is (IMO) a bad idea.

As much as you think you know somebody, you don't know that much about them until you've spent some actual face time with them. Maybe it's the poker player in me that says that, but I'd be wary of taking that idea too seriously.

I would be worried about the direction of atmosphere that this forum would then take if something like that were implemented. I feel that there is already too much "poor me, I'm still single" going on, and this would make that worse. I think we need to stop focusing on finding someone and start focusing on *being* someone great. If you happen to meet someone here that you want to date, then go for it... but I wouldn't want to see that as the focus.

To take it a step further, if you've checked out the Member's Photo's section, over the last year I've seen it go from "nice pic" or "you're very handsome/pretty" to "[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] YERR HAWTT!!".

It's just one of those crazy things. And I know it would prolly make people feel better knowing there are some folks who would consider them lol.

Anyway as far as the singles thing...it wouldn't have to be blatant. It could be set up as another type page. You don't have to see it if you don't want to. I would partisapate I think. I mean it wouldn't have to be the sole focus of this site. I thought it would just be a nice add on.

It's hard for me to respond to this without a serious side to it, so sorry 'bout that. You asked, I answered. Sorry if I took this in a direction you didn't intend for it to go.

But if there was a vehicle for meeting the people on the board, there's a certain amount of liability and risk that may or may not be assumed by the board, but they would be somewhat responsible for.

My profile says 27/m Christian, and there's a picture. Anybody could have typed that stuff in and checked the right boxes, posted a pic of someone they found somewhere, and got themselves a meeting with some innocent person.

I'm not saying this to argue, I'm saying this to discuss why I think it won't happen.

The thing is some people might take it seriously. I've had someone declare their love for me out of the blue on line and start talking about meeting and the like. All I ever did was chat to them on a message board, and occasionally in an instant messanger program. They weren't even the right gender!

I found it quite scary. It's doubtful they could find me but....if they spoke to the right people then they could. I'm just grateful now that I didn't let them know who my actual close friends online are.

It's just not worth the risk to put that kind of message out there online. You never know what will bite.

Ok... I thought this was a "cute" topic. I mean I didn't mean anything by it. But I guess everyone feels it is tastless. Lets let it drop now I guess. Topic is now dead.

Not to beat a dead horse, but from the staff viewpoint, this exact topic was of some concern when we debated starting the Singles forum. Many of the reasons have been given as to why we were wary of it. Things like this have a tendency to get out of hand very fast. People's feelings get hurt not to mention what can happen if a sexual predator where to get loose in something like that. What some may seem as harmless fun, others would take very seriously. IMO opinion, we are wise to stay clear of a "dating forum". The Singles forum was started to bring Christian singles together to discuss the issues that Christian singles are faced with and to offer support and encouragement from other singles. I think that it is best to keep it in those confines. Of course there is nothing wrong with forming friendships with those we meet here. I have made some great friends here!

don't be so sure... it happens all the time. the internet is simply another way of meeting people... and it seems to me that the more ways you have to meet people, the better your chances are of finding someone great.
