Why didn't Ice post this for himself? Just curious.
I have not had access to a computer for a month. that post is the last time I had access to a computer on a regular basis. So no conspiricy there.

I was shocked to see it but not suprised. that is the first offical statment made outside of CF. I have talked to my family and they kinda shut down. I'm kinda overwhelmed by the response. don't know what to say.

I am writing a book the title of which was inspired by a conversation with Freeindeed2 . We had a conversation in which he mentioned that "there are many layers to adventist teaching" well I thought that is a great name for a book so thank-you free.

"Unpealing the Onion: Examining the tainted layers of SDA theology"

I am going to need help from some people so tall and sophia since we actually know each other in real life I am asking you for help in how to present the detailed theology.

I have been through hell the last month your prayers would be nice.

I went to chruch last sunday it was a good sermon. I may go back. I would like to go to a different chruch but it is too far a way.

well that is the story

You're not alone, Ice. There are many who understand what you're going through.

I look forward to the royalties!

You're welcome my friend. It's a multi-layered piece of religious evolution.

I didn't know you 'know' them! Cool.

Hi ICE. Man I'm sorry for your hurt. I went through that same hurt and it was no fun at all. Unlike many of my Adventist friends, I knew the gospel for years, but it was other Adventist theology that I hid in the back of my mind, I could not reconcile it with the gospel. I was afraid to study things out. I never wanted to find out she was all a lie, so I hid it for years.

After the hurt there was anger...anger at the church. You see...my research led me to believe that its all a cover up. They know ICE, and they will not relent, nor will they release all those who remain in her from the bondage they have them in. Just think, all they would have to do is say we where wrong, and heres how to make it right. If they present the truth of the gospel, people would be free. The people are in it because they believe her...Some people can't study their way out like Tall, Sophia, Free. Some who have studied, Like Night, and RC have the same passion for the church that I had, but they want change, thus they remain. Oh I hope they prepare themselves...because some people really take it hard. I know, I've spoken to some of those who took it hard. Some are still bitter and angry after years of being away from her. So my friend watch yourself, continue to pray for healing. Pray for your family that they will understand. Some have lost their Adventist siblings and parents because of their departure from her.

Continue to pray to be led of God in seeking that right church. It only took one time for me, but others it took several times. Prepare a list of what you will not put up with in a church. Draw from your Adventist experience. Get a check list together. Know what you want in worship...do you want expository sermons where the preacher sticks to the text using hebrew and greek ? Do you want sermons that tell a story? Do you want different subjects every week? Do you want a more systematic approach?

What kinda of music do you want? How about a childrens ministry? Do you want a church where the law is uplifted? Or do you prefer Christ to be exulted every week? Remember, a church does not have to be Adventist to exult the law over Christ, there are many law based churches out there so keep an eye and ear open for that.

Continue to seek advice from freeindeed...He may not remember, but he gave me some good advice before I departed from Adventism over at CARM. Though He is not an Adventist Pastor any more, he still has the heart of a pastor. His gift will help you. I suppose if God graced him with that gift, he has it no matter what church he is in. See you on the boards.

I'll be praying for you. You pray some more.

Come on you guys he is just looking for a church home not dying. He is simply going to have to check out churches and find one he likes. It should be interesting. Especially if he takes us with him by giving a report of the churches he visits.

(Going back and reading where you say you wanted to try another church but it was too far away may indicate that you live out in the country with few church choices which may make it harder)

I went to chruch today. it was good, the pastor

Bryan Clark is very good.

he is from lincoln berean church

Glad to hear. I believe that church also has a group of former Adventists that meet there. So he is familiar with Adventist issues.

Hm, interesting. Looks like Caedmon's Call is going to be performing a concert there.

Check it out Ice, they are a good group!

So, what happened to the Seventh Day Baptist church thing? Did you already check them out? Or are you over your 'Sunday' aversion? :)

Oh I hope they prepare themselves...because some people really take it hard. I know, I've spoken to some of those who took it hard. Some are still bitter and angry after years of being away from her.

Thanks for the warning. But I think I will be fine. I do not live and die by Adventism or EGW, so I really don't think you should worry. I was not raised SDA and I have never put EGW on a pedastal. I have nothing in common with people like Dale Ratzlaff, Mark Martin and Sydney Cleveland who venerated EGW and could not fathom anything outside Adventism-these sorts of people are the ones who become the most bitter enemies of EGW and the church, because they had such an unhealthy, unrealistic relationship with both to begin with. I have never lived in an Adventist bubble and I know I am well-adjusted and balanced enough that I will not spend years and years and years and years bitter and angry towards the church. When the decision to leave is at the point where it is final, there is no more reason to be angry. Adventism will mean nothing at that point and will have no more influence on my life.

And if I ever decide to leave the church for good, it will be a clean break. I won't want to hear, see or talk about anything remotely Adventist. Because for me, leaving is just that: Leaving. It will be like cutting an arm off and leaving the limb behind. I cannot imagine wanting to carry that limb around for the rest of my post-Adventist life to worry over it and pick it apart.

I hear so many formers boast about how 'free' they are now that they have left the church. But some of these are the very same ones who still carry the baggage of Adventism around with them and it cripples them so that they cannot get on with life. That, to me, is not freedom from Adventism. That is like letting a dead abusive parent torment you from the grave. It cannot be healthy for the person. FAF is just a sad display of online dysfunctional mess, I'm sorry to say.

However, I do sympathize with those die-hard SDA formers whose worlds fell apart after leaving and were never able to fully restore thier lives back to complete happiness and normality. It must be an awful thing to experience.

As long as you have family in your life that are Adventist it will always be there. You would have to cut off all interaction with your family to have no Adventist influence. If you have no one in your family or in your spouse's family that is Adventist then you are in a whole different category.
