Last week the Pope sent out a letter to all his Bishops and stated that they had neglected the internet as an important source of information in measuring reaction to things they were doing.
So, he has probably not been here before, but might send someone to listen in the future.![]()
He does have time for a stogie apparently:

Why not a little surfing now and then?
Photoshop... can make a person's pious mother look like a harlot.
I hope we all realize these are photoshops. Not the best of humor IMO and much like jokes that make a person's beloved mother to be a harlot.
JtC, that's a bit offensive friend. Yes, they are obvious photoshop jobs, but I hardly equate a man smoking a cigarette to a harlot.
Personally, if I were the pope, given this new technology where ideas can flow and be debated faster than ever before, I would have a team assigned to find the biggest boards, do some research to see what the major debated topics are and see if I could actually refute them or not. If not, I think I might be a bit on the nervous side as a pope and all.
I would be surprised if the higher ups in the Catholic Church haven't been on internet forums reporting directly to the pope. He may have even visited a few himself.

What is the difference between one sin and another except their gravity.
Smoking is harmful to the body which is the temple of God and is a sin. The Pope does not smoke. Pictures like this are a subtle way to mock both the RCC and it's religous leader.
So to equate what I did to a harlot is to show that as a Catholic the Pope is the spiritual father for the church like a Patriarch is for EOC and OOC. For Protestants and especially non-denominational this concept is likely foreign to their understanding. So to say a mother who is joked about as being a harlot is close to a religous leader who sins. If you do not like my comparison then I submit that you have offended an RCC equally if not much more.
Tobacco is listed right along with food and alcohol as acceptable if not taken in excess.CCC(2290)
The virtue of temperance disposes us to avoid every kind of excess: the abuse of food, alcohol, tobacco, or medicine. Those incur grave guilt who, by drunkenness or a love of speed, endanger their own and others' safety on the road, at sea, or in the air
Seriously, if he interacted here he'd probably be handing us some lame old intra-historical mumbo jumbo and think that would work here and he'd then get his theological head handed to him on a platter IMHO.
You obviously have read nothing from Ratzinger, one of the greatest theologians in the world as acknowledged by protestants and catholics.
Here's a partial list of his books over the years:

Well, if he has 'got it' I've certainly NOT seen IT from any of his proponents.
Theology in general tends to fall into the same old hacks that have been going on from day one. Some aspects of it are so repetitively predictable I could EASILY tell you what you will do before you even set your hands to the keyBORED.
Very little if anything new under the sun.
