  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey guys, I am going to be scarce for awhile. I am no longer on Campus and I am staying with a friend in TN for a couple of weeks. He has dial-up and I feel like it'd be rude if I hogged the computer and phone line. Come the beggining of June I am leaving for the Northwest Territories of Canada to go on mission for the entire summer. I will have dial-up internet there as well but I am sharing a house *cough* I am living in a shed behind the house of the missionary. :p There are already 11 people living there as well because he takes care of foster kids while doing full time ministry. If you couldn't have guessed I also do not want to hog their phone line or computer.

So until Aug. 15 at the earliest I will be somewhat scarce on here, to my dismay. I already miss being able to come here and post whenever. Also be good because it is hard to deal with reports on dial-up lol (which will all most likely be outdated). :p

If you feel like doing so, pray for me that everything I do would be to glorify God. Also that I adjust because I am typically a 'monk' and keep to myself when I am at home. This summer my home will have zero privacy. Infact, I will probably have to share my shed with various drunks and youth who stumble in at all hours of the morning wanting to do bible study, which apparently happens often. Not that I am against such things but it will be stretching.

The grits were good yet plain, chitlins I am debating on trying, the cracklin bread tasted funny and I have never ate a a weed (polk salad) that has ever grown in my yard back north.

Be Safe and Enjoy your new adventures this summer. God will be with you I have no doubt. Even when the drunks are stumbling in at all hours of the night ;) Kidding aside, you are doing a wonderful thing , sacraficing your time and energy to witness and bring God's word to the people. Keep your strength up.....sleep well, eat right and take your vitamins!!! :D

God Bless you Mark!!!

I just found out last night that one of the first things I get to do up there is to literally crawl in human waste. :| The temperture down there drops to a deep freeze of -48 at times in the winter and it does damage to the buildings. We have to get under the church to repair some things in order to maintain normal church functions and there is no way around swimming in the septic tank to get the job done. Soli Deo Gloria, right? :)

If you know what the chitlins are you won't try them. My grandmother in Louisiana was always trying to get us to try them. After watching them prepared there was no way.

I am in awe. I love my privacy. I cannot even begin to think to have people around me all the time.

But I somehow understand what you are willing to do and how much you are willing to do for God ...

Although I will never be able to follow your example, it is a great example.

May God bless you and provide you with all your needs

I love greens! I love beans and greens with some pulled pork, cole slaw and cornbread! :yum: Grits are good too. Never had squirrel, but I've had rabbit.
Now I'm hungry!
I like spinache too. I grew up on spinache frittatas.

He he he...I made the mistake of asking my Mamma (grandmother), "Now what type of greens was it that great-grandmother made, spinach?" Ekkkk  She responded "that wasn't no spinach, that there was Turnip Greens, you won't get none of that spinach in the South, that’s Yankee food!" To which I humbly shut my mouth. For fear I would have her marching about in a huff on her heels all day! :D Gotta love 'em

Isn't it funny how Southern Cookin' can inspire unity! LOL!
I haven't had the squirrel or the rabbit...they forced me to eat Bambi though!

Wow Mark - this will be quite a test, and an experience - I think it will be very rewarding and you will become a stronger man when you come out of it. You will continually be in my prayers.

You shared a great verse with me the other day now it is my turn to share one (or 2 :)) with you.

Rejoice when you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed!
And the God of all grace, Who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast
.
-Peter

Therefore I urge you, my brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. - Paul

Remember this on your mission trip:
Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover a multitude of sins. -James

:) Thanks Bill! That was very edifying. The one you quoted from Peter was one I had just read yesterday. Perhaps the Lord is trying to tell me something.

Hold it a minute here
Just a second

Didn't we just hire you here?

How does the kid get a vacation already?

Bless you Mark
Your work will not go unoticed before the throne of G-d

Now PG, you must understand that blessings change hands around these parts. You can buy anything with enough blessings, including a vacation. :p:)

Thank You, though.

You'll be the living, ahem, swimming proof for

[BIBLE]John 13:10[/BIBLE]

Okay, I may have wrestled scripture but I did not wrestle with the bible tags ... thanks to your suggestion
