  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thats all nice and dandy, but the truth is alot of people did hate us we just didn't care until they started ramming planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

Do you think in retrospect it would have been a better idea to not focus on Clinton's zipper or accuse him of "wag the dog" in the late 90s?

Condi Rice was told in Jan 2001 that she'd spend more time on Osama than anyone else and Clinton's outgoing staff tried to brief her. Not interested.

OK.. so I don't know a lot about politics.

But I remember that when the Clintons lived in the White House...

The economy was good. The national debt was being paid down. We had a federal budget surplus. And the whole world didn't hate us!

Hilary was in St. Louis the other day.

I like her.. and her hubby! 8 More years!!!
That would be before 911, with Republicans directing how Bill lead. Back when Republicans were actually for less spending, and less goverment.
In spite of CLinton, they were good times.

One's mind tends to block out the negative stuff. Maybe these will bring back more of the memories:

WHEN the terrorist gang controlled by Bin Laden exploded a bomb in the World Trade Center in 1993 killing six and injuring 650 others, President Clinton did not even visit the site of the attack. In his radio address the next day, he expressed his grief and outrage and four days later visited New Jersey where he sent a message to New Yorkers saluting their courage. Other than those statements, he remained aloof and uninvolved.

The attack occurred in the second month of Clinton's presidency. Issues like gays in the military, the recession, and withdrawing our troops from Somalia loomed larger than the 1993 attack. Clinton deliberately remained removed from the attack perhaps in the hope that he would not be blamed so early in his presidency.

...His failure to mobilize America to confront foreign terror after the 1993 attack had dire consequences and led directly to the 2001 disaster. Two years after the 1993 attack, Sudan, sick of sheltering Bin Laden, offered to turn him over to the United States for prosecution. But, without the president breathing down their neck, investigators had not yet discovered that Bin Laden was behind the 1993 attack.....

Clinton was removed, uninvolved, and distant where the war on terror was concerned. CIA director Woolsey now reveals that he never had a private personal meeting with Clinton during the first two years of his tenure as head of the CIA - exactly the key period in investigating the 1993 attack.

Do you remember Clinton's role in the North Korea Nuclear Accords? In 1994, the Clinton administration made a big deal over signing the Nuclear Accords with North Korea. The agreement provided for the construction of a Nuclear Power plant and fuel oil in return for the North ceasing construction of an old style nuclear power plant and stopping it's nuclear weapons program. How successful was that one?

And what about the US invasion of Kosovo? That is the only thing you can call the forced entry into a sovereign nation, or is Iraq a special case?

How about Clinton's involvment in Somalia in 1992? It was an attempt to do good and may have been justified, but the decision by Clinton to continue the mission in the Spring of 1993 was with out a doubt a mistake. He abdicated his responsibility as Commander in Chief of the US military to Butros Gali and allowed the UN Sec. Gen. to run a war against Aideed in an attempt to build a nation from a fragmented society.

How about the failed Middle East peace talks back in July 2000? Yasser Arafat and Ehud Barak... ring any bells?

Perhaps you have forgotten that on January 19, 2001 (his last full day in office, thank the Lord), Clinton voluntarily entered into a settlement agreement with Robert Ray, the Independent Counsel, in which Clinton admitted "testifying falsely," paid a $25K fine and surrendered his Arkansas law license for 5 years.

Despite being handed a booming economy and having the luck of being in office when the personal computer hit the market, the DOW under Clinton never even came close to recent highs.

Yeah, as I recall the dream, it was more of a nightmare....

or we could go for Obama and take the good of the Clinton years without so much of the bad (scandal and pandering)

Pandering is the heart and soul of Washington, I'm afriad.

"They say politics is the second oldest profession. I've come to realize it has a lot in common with the first." -- Ronald Reagan.

As for scandal, I say as long as it's only sex scandals, at least it'll make it interesting. ;)

time to put up or shut up. show us some of Hillary Clinton's proposals, show us some Marxist rhetoric, and we can analyze.
That would make a good "other" thread.

I can't recall.

Although, would you vote for someone who said that if she was elected, she would quit the job after two years if her job was to represent you?
She said many times she would serve her complete term in the Senate. And her rival made it quite clear that she had.
Everyone knew Clinton was going to run for President as soon as she became Senator of NY.

I have no problem with her changing her mind. I would be more worried if she would be the kind to stick to a decision even if it turned out to be wrong.

I conclude that the world does not hate us.

Did you read Sarkozy's address? It brought me back to the days of the Revolution.

If you look at the statistics, your immediate reaction will be ‘hey, wait a minute – the national debt increased under President Clinton’ – which is correct, but the increases were entirely due to the interest charged on the federal debt. When a new president takes office, the interest on the national debt doesn't stop - it continues, so the interest charges are still there.

Bill Clinton was in office for 8 years. The U.S. National Debt increased by $1.5 trillion dollars during his 8-year presidency. During this same 8-year period interest on the National Debt totaled $2.7 trillion dollars. If you eliminate the interest, the National Debt was actually reduced by $1.2 trillion dollars under President Clinton.

But under what accepted economic theory can one just "eliminate" the interest? Debt is debt. We owed more more when he left than when he came in therefore it increased.

For which she deserves some sympathy.
No she doesn't. they deserve each other

I have to say, she does deserve some respect for honoring her vows and staying with that man.
Now if she would just honor to vow to serve her full term in the Senate

I belive it's called 'accepted economic theory that justifies my positive feelings about Clinton.'
