I know in a few places on here I have been out of line and I want to apologize to anyone I could of offended and have offended. That is not my nature and I am sorry. I am just trying to understand this lifestyle a little deeper than I do now.

If you have wronged anyone and your apologizing now, then the onus is on them to forgive you:amen::hug:

This particular forum is a snare where christians devour one another like savage wolves.

Thank you very much and yes it is. I just want to speak my mind but cannot seem to get a word in edgewise around here. :swoon:

There is nothing wrong with trying to understand someone.

You probably want God's understanding more than the world's understanding.

Maybe you know somebody that is gay, and wonder how to respond to them.

We had this same discussion in sunday school last week. When someone is going clearly against the scriptures, we are commanded to treat them the same as an unbeliever.

Unbelievers come to church too.

I'm sure the people who really matter -- the fundamentalists and the conservatives -- will readily accept your apology, ILove2Worship.

When you pray to God, keep this in mind:

"Forgive our sins as we also forgive those who sin against us"

Why thank you — but my understanding of fundamentalists is that they don't believe God hears the prayers of gays — or liberals — or non-Christians.

This statement could be very funny if it wasn't so.......................

I have commented many times that placing all who believe a certain way under the same umbrella is very wrong. God hears the prayers of all who seek Him the scriptures say, and none of the fundamentalist/conservatives I know believe what you have stated. :sigh:

That doesn't mean some don't believe that, it just means all who believe that homosexuality is a sin don't believe they can't be forgiven. The Bible states the only sin that can't be forgiven is blaspheming the Holy Spirit, and so I will never understand why so many want to cast such a large net over people.

I guess I should believe that all gays have an agenda, and all liberals believe that abortion is ok no matter what.

I am considered a fundamentalist/conservative, and frankly I get really sad and angry when people try and tell me what I believe because of those labels. In fact, I really get tired of the labels, mainly because they are used to say someone is evil.

I am a follower of Christ, a Christian, who is doing the best I can, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, to understand and be the best servant of the Lord I can be. Nothing more, nothing less.

ILove2Worship,

I haven't read all your post so don't know what you are speaking of, but know that there are times when most of us have done things that offended. Sometimes we realize it and sometimes we don't, so would say thank you, and if I have done anything that offends I too am sorry.

Actually, I can accept everything you said — and to be honest, I probably AM guilty of painting with too broad a paintbrush.

When I've gotten PMs and emails from people who damn me to Hell for being gay, or being a Lutheran, or being a Democrat, or being a liberal or for any of a dozen other reasons because I don't agree with some point of doctrine that the sender holds dear — I end up assuming that ALL conservatives and ALL fundamentalists think that way; and the truth of the matter is that not ALL conservatives and ALL fundamentalists (and probably not even most of them) are the condescending, judgmental, self-righteous and self-congratulatory types who send the PM and email nasty-grams or make the types of smug, self-satisfied comments that some fundamentalists and conservatives make to my posts.

Actually, I'm OK with the concept that someone may think homosexuality is a sin and I'm certainly not going to tell them what they can or cannot think or can or cannot believe.

At the same time, I would like to be given the right to believe that it's God's grace which justifies me before Christ; and that I, too am Christian even if I'm gay, even if I'm a Democrat, even if I'm a liberal, and even if I'm a Lutheran.

I'm not saying you you're one of the people who insists I have to believe the way they do in order to be a Christian. (I've read enough of your posts to know that's not what you believe, and that's certainly not how you act or present yourself.)

But — referring to the others who do insist that I have to believe what they believe, the way they believe it or I'm damned to Hell — it does get really, really old after a while; and I find it interesting that these same people object to receiving the same treatment they dish out so readily to others and then have the gall to claim they're being "persecuted".

If I've smeared you with paint from painting with too broad a paintbrush — I really am sorry; and hopefully this will help remove some of that paint.

ILove2Worship,

Thank you for your sentiment. I might have been piqued by a post or two, but I am sure I've dished out as much. No harm, no foul.

I love the fact that you are trying to understand more deeply about gay orientation.

And when everything else fails, you and I are in perfect agreement that a woman could never do for us what a man can do!

God knows our prayers before we even pray for them.

:D

I needed a good laugh today, thanks UberLutheran that is so cute!!!

I will say, that yes sometimes the constant painting of all people who believe this or that must also be a certain way does wear thin sometimes. I am sure that you find flat out statements about certain people to wear thin, too. This is one reason I hate labels.

Well except the label of Christian.

There is a fine line, I believe, between loving the way Christ gave us the example to do, and standing on sound doctrine. There has to be a balance of these as I noticed while studing up on love. I found some interesting things by looking at the 7 churches mentioned in Revelation on this very subject.

Anyhow, thanks for the paint remover, and please always know that I don't mean to offend anyone with my post. I will though stand by what I feel is the doctrine put for us to follow in the Bible.

I also, will be working harder on keeping that balance I spoke of above. I believe that love leads us to service, and that faith leads us to patience while we are in the service of the Lord. Spiritual growth comes from all of these, and I pray that all of us are continuing to grow in the Lord.:prayer: Just wish sometimes I grew faster in the likeness of the Lord, and not my cloths size. :)

Have a Good Day.
