First, I will tell you know these four misconceptions for new writers:
1)The people you really need to impress at Publishing firms are business people (not the people you will interact with), keep this in mind, you are not at first trying to impress some English major, your trying to give yourself an angle which make you worth the cost.

2) Send a proposal first, selling an idea not a work! This costs you nothing if you do it by email or fax, and is the only way you will even get looked at.

3) Publishers will demand a lot of changes on your first book.

4) I know most people don’t like this, but it is the truth, writing books for children is a great way to introduce yourself to the industry, it puts money in the bank and does help to get where you need to go.

I figure that is enough for now, without ever seeing your work and knowing that you are a younger writer, I would suggest not publishing your work but keeping them for later reference; till a time when you are a more developed writer. The best stories come in youth, yet often the style is not quite where it needs to be to sell.

Did you mean misconceptions, or just that these four points aren't well known to new writers? When you said misconceptions, I got a little confused as to whether the points you were saying were what is true or whether they were what is being falsely perceived by new writers. (Like, a list of misconceptions where by listing the misconception, you are implying that it's not true and the opposite is actually true.) I'm guessing that they are truths from reading them, but just wanted to make sure.

Okay, I think my post might have been a little confusing, but I hope it makes sense!

Those are a list of truths which most new writers don't know, I was going to write down misconceptions then the truths, but I guess I changed my mind. :D

Um what website would i send it to....like the idea thingie.
They should be listed under a website under contacts, you may just want to send a quick e-mail to HR or the Webmaster asking to whom it should be address to be sure it isn't lost.

You may also call or drop by and ask for contact information...

Wow! It's nice for someone to be interested in publishing something!

I guess that's what most writers desire. Publication. I always thought about that myself. I remember seeing a writer(wrote this book on financing according to the biblical principles) making an appearance at this church on TV(TBN). Then I saw all these books that Max Lucado published. Even J.K. Rowling's success is something to drool about.

Being published isn't what writing is all about. I wish i didn't have to say that(so we could all be published writers and getting a nice big juicy checks)... but there's more to writing than just being published.

It's all about the passion. I fall short of this at times. I always find myself reading these writing articles, which isn't neccessary a bad thing. But I was being a "wanna-be writer" rather than a writer. If you got the passion, it will flow out like a strong river! Plus know it's all for God.

If you wanna be published as a writer, that's great! Most of us on this forum want to be too! But remember, there will be those haunting rejection slips coming at you! Many writers who dreamed of success stopped writing because they weren't being published.

I just want to encourage you to keep writing despite what editors says about the book. Now that's the real heart of a writer...writing through the 3 feet snow.

Here's an encouragement:
"If you write a hundred short stories and they're all bad, that doesn't mean you failed. You fail only if you stop writing. I've written about two thousand short stories; I've only published about three hundred and I feel I'm still learning. Any man who keeps working is not a failure. He may not be a great writer, but if he applies the old-fashioned virtues of hard, constant labor, he'll eventually make some kind of career for himself as a writer."
-Ray Bradbury (Mary 1967)

If you have a passion for writing. Do it. Choose what you want to write about with care. Remember to keep an age group in mind, but to appeal to all.
Every person who has a passion for writing becomes overwhelmed at the thought of seeing their first book in print and in the Book Stores. But, you may face a few disappointments prior to this event if you want your book published by a reputable publishing company.
Above all, take pride in your work. Many manuscripts have to be rejected due to shoddy presentation.
You may get yourself an agent, but this does cost money. However, it is worthwhile.
Don't be overwhelmed by all the advice. Just take your time, write your book and remember that at first, you are on your own. Your friends may be in awe of what you have written. But this may not be the case to the experts.
Publishing Firms are always on the look out for new talent. Persevere and always look at your work with criticism - not self praise.

All the best.
