I've studied the bible 35 years now, my first 25 I thought we had to obey the law, some of it in the old testament and all of it in the new testament. 10 or 15 years ago I met a guy who had studied the bible almost 50 times, I was at about 40 times then, and from talking to him I decided to see if I could study it more than anyone else, I studied 2 to 8 hours a day since then, now I can't find many people who agree with me, because most of them think you need to obey the law, even though nobody does.
I believe we're justified by love.

Romans chapter 4
13 It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. 14 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, 15 because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

Isaiah chapter 45 verse 19
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

You are correct and almost alone.
I am getting through to very few, even staff.
But it's not really my job to change people.

8 If you really keep the royal law stated in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.…

Leviticus 19:18
'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD.

Matthew 7:12
In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the prophets.

Romans 13:8
Be indebted to no one, except to one another in love, for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the Law.

Romans 13:10
Love does no wrong to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law.

James 2:19
You believe that God is one. Good for you! Even the demons believe that, and shudder!

James 4:11
Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the Law and judges it.

Isaiah chapter 45 verse 19
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.

The Pharisees thought they knew God's Word but the problem that Jesus had with them is that they did not obey His Word. They ignored the weighier matters of the Law like love, justice, faith, and mercy (Matthew 23:23) (Luke 11:42). But some people, they could have appeared to be very loving and I am sure they thought they were loving to a degree. One needs to define what love actually is. We cannot just say to people to love God and love your neighbor without breaking that down in what it means according to the words of Jesus and His followers in more fine detail (or other commandments). So no. We have to obey to be right with the Lord. We have to obey the finer detailed commands in God's Word what love actually means. Matthew 25, by your own admission before is proof in the pudding that we cannot just say "Love" to others and leave it that. One needs to break it down and define HOW to love according to God's Word. This involves action on our part. Matthew 25 is filled with threats to our eternal standing with God if we do not help or love the poor in this life. 1 John 3:15 says if one hates their brother, they are like a murderer and no murderer has eternal life abiding in them. Remember, there are those who are ever learning but they are unable to come to the knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:7). My prayer is that nobody is of this group. I cannot tell who is of this group because only God can tell if a person will change or not later on in life. But people can study the Scriptures over and over and over and not believe them at face value (because they think the original languages says something different than their own English Bible).

In other words, there are people who are always looking to do the wrong thing with God's grace and there are folks who are looking to do the right thing with God's grace. One can appear to be that they are for God by saying to just "love" but if we do not define what love is as the Bible define's love then we will be in serious trouble with God because God gives us many warnings on not loving the correct way. Remember, that a specific church had obeyed, but they lost their first love. They needed to repent and do the FIRST WORKS. It was not repent and just believe on Jesus and love in general. No, no. Most certainly not. They needed to repent and do the "FIRST WORKS." So yes, works or obedience to God is necessary.
