I think I'm unregnerate, reprobate, vessel of wrath, despairing, tried all I can think of

I wouldn't get too excited. I'm not 100% sure if I really am going to Him or not. I'm just praying and hoping for the best. That's going to Him as best I know. I may not really be going to Him. But I will as much as I know. It's up to Him what happens.

Chris, a friend just sent me this.

Diana - The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9. Digging down into your heart will never provide so lutions. Even if you feel you are beyond help that is a complete and total lie. I have been there I have thought those same things. But it is a downright lie. Jesus is there. We will NEVER have enough faith, or the right prayer. Instead Jesus just asks us to seek Him to look to Him and His promises are so so rich!

So many keep telling me i keep looking at myself...let's look at Jesus! Keep seeking, searching. Drop any expectations. Eyes on him. Oh, do i need accountability to do this...

Yes, look at Jesus as the one who took your sins to the cross. This IS about your sins, and mine. Think about Jesus paying the penalty for your sins. Think about Him dying & shedding his blood for the remission of your sins when He went to the cross. Think about Him defeating death when he arose from the grave. Think about Him coming back someday to receive us to be with Him forever.
Think on these things instead of dwelling on your confusion. But don't just THINK about Jesus, read His Word and learn about Him. Read how He wants you to come to Him and trust Him. Read about His promise to not reject you if you come to Him to receive the pardon from your sin He purchased for you with His blood.

Thank you! It's just easy to question or doubt if I'm saved when i don't see changes or i keep falling into the same sin without any victory. Or if i still want to practice a certain sin. Just go to Him to ask for help with everything? Maybe it takes a long time? And don't be a perfectionist...

I just read some Luke this morning. Speaking of John the Baptist in Like 1:17, it says that John the Baptist will cause the rebellious to accept godly wisdom. And how does he do that? By the Holy Spirit. Are we rebellious? Yes. So we qualify. This states that we can be caused to accept godly wisdom. Let's keep seeking trust in Jesus which will allow us to claim this promise.

I am the blind leading the blind. Please do not take anything I am suggesting and bank on it for eternity. I am struggling with the same things you are. I'm sharing what I am trying to do, fake and insincere as I feel. I am trying to find promises to claim to help me trust. But our root sin is unbelief - we need to find a way to trust Him somehow. Hopefully He will grant it to us. I find repentance difficult. We will need His power to repent. What scares me is if He says no. Or if I am just faking this all and He sees through that. But that is for Him to judge. If I could only believe what I am writing.

Please also ask God on our behalf to clear away our fog and grant us true willingness to seek out Jesus and learn what it means to believe. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your journey! I think it's helpful. I find repentance difficult too. Or i overthink things and wonder what exactly i need to repent of. Certain things are obvious. It's smaller things or maybe parts of my personality that I'm not sure whether or not i need to repent of - that's where i get confused.

Did you watch that video #3 John posted? It's pretty good. I just want to be sure I'm really understanding this and fully embracing Jesus as my savior. I'm just afraid i don't get it enough or am not fully embracing him. Maybe that's something to work toward? A daily choice?

Our efforts to repent won't save us. Our sin habits won't totally change without Jesus. We have to get near to Him. We don't change us, He does. I've quit several major sins I was practicing, but that doesn't get me any closer. We have to seek His will about how to believe. Repentance (change) is a byproduct of belief. We have to ask Him to break our hearts over our sin. Easier said than done.

You will believe when you repent, and you will repent when you believe. Yes repentance is a change of mind, and God certainly can change your mind. After you repent & believe then you will realize the enormity of your sin. I speak from my own experience.
All things are possible with God.

The uncertainty is killing me. Nothing gets through to my heart. I can't feel my sin. I can't weep over it. Everything is shrouded in mystery. Prayer feels fake. I have no control and it frustrates me. What is going to have to give? Instead of seeking Him humbly, I get mad. Sometimes it feels like a sick joke. But what else can I do but pray and read?

First go to Him and receive the pardon for your sins He purchased with His blood on the cross. He can't help you until you belong to Him.

I did. Seemed to make sense but nothing's clicking.

You might watch it again.
I have a question for you. Don't answer if you feel uncomfortable doing so.
Suppose God appears to you in the middle of the night, wakes you, and tells you that he wants to save you, but first asks you to give him at least one good reason for him to do so. What reason/reasons would give him?

I don't have any. I have no godly sorrow for my sin. I am impenitent. Without that, there is no forgiveness.

Chris, i could be wrong, but i think I'm getting it. You're right where He wants you - that's exactly it. It seems too good to be true, too easy, too simple. I know exactly, exactly what you're thinking and feeling. I didn't have godly sorrow either - i only cared about me - still pretty sure i do - but there's a glimmer of hope. I know this probably won't help right now, but just pray - just tell Him you don't have godly sorrow, tell Him you're impenitent. He forgives that too. Ask Him to help you. A couple months ago, my counselor told me to pray, read, rest when i told her i didn't think i was saved and that i thought i was a vessel of wrath. I didn't really get what she was saying. I think I'm beginning to now though. I know you still might not quite get it yet, and i know how frustrating and awful it is. But i want to encourage you. Even if you don't get it yet, keep going! Seek and you will find (I've always loved that verse) keep asking questions. Keep talking to Christians. Keep learning. It's taken me a long time, lots of reading, lots of conversations, lots of confusion and fear, lots of everything... but i think I'm getting it more and more. You are on the right track. You are so close - you don't even realize! Keep going - i think you'll soon find out what I'm beginning to see. Don't give up. I'm here for you. And I'm not out of the woods yet, still a little unsure given the path that got me here, but I'm hopeful. And I'm hopeful for you too!

Also, Chris, i think you mentioned taking Aiki's advice on here. That's really helped me. Read over it a few times. Read over what John is saying too. It might take a little time. Just keep going.
