  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well we have more differences than alikes.

I like for the air to be cool but the bed warm. He wants the room warm and to kick off covers.

I fall asleep better with the TV, but he needs complete dark and quiet. (He sometimes wears a sleep mask and earplugs, and I sometimes watch Netflix streaming on a phone or tablet with ear buds if I have them to compromise.)

He does like to drape across me, starts in his sleep, flails, yells. And snores lol. But I love to cuddle so I put up with it. :)

I'm usually a bit of a night owl and he's sometimes ready to sleep before 8pm.

It's not always easy. ;)

Hehehe, this stuff is fun to talk about!

We both like white noise, so that works out well for us (though I prefer not to have the fan actually blowing on me).

He has nightmares all the time, and will do the flailing, yelling stuff, too. I always want to wake him up when he's having a bad dream, but when I touch him, he'll jerk all around and sometimes I worry he's going to accidentally wallop me, so I kind of poke him and duck lol.

He's the night owl, and my sleep cycles go with the sun. So I'm very lively and energetic from spring to fall, but in winter, I want to hibernate, and I'm very groggy during all the dark daylight hours (like right now *yawn*).

Oh, you're a lucky one. My husband won't let me have the thermostat over 65, even in the dead of winter (like right now!). And even then, he still says he's hot all the time. Right now, he's at his computer in a sleeveless shirt and shorts, and I'm wearing a hoodie and sweatpants!

How about a tiny electric heater, pointed below bed-level at your side? I have weird hot-cold issues sometimes, and I have done that. (Also done it with a fan to make it cooler too)

Or an electric blanket with dual controls? If you don't like sleeping under the electric current, you could at least turn it on before you get into bed to warm it up for you, and then put something extra that is a bit fluffy on your side under the top blanket, to hold in more heat?

I have often thought of sleeping separately. Not because I don't love my husband, but because we are both restless sleepers and often wake each other up. For instance, he woke me up at 3:30 this morning because he got up to go downstairs and turn off a light that one of the kids had left on. Maybe it was bugging him, but instead of just him being awake and annoyed, I was also then awake and annoyed.

Also, we keep very different hours, and I like to be up at 5am, on the treadmill, and although I don't put any lights on (seriously, I run or walk in the almost-dark), he still complains that he can't sleep between 5am and 6am - but he often stays up until 12pm-1am so I really don't have any sympathy for him. LOL.

Maybe when the eldest kid leaves home I'll move into his room. ;)

Treadmill at 5 AM! Woman! wow!!
