B. Core Doctrines

1. Reformation Theology

a) Scripture alone as the absolute authority.

b) Justification by faith in Christ alone.

c) Salvation by grace alone.

d) Christ alone as the only mediator between God and man, the only savior, the only needed teacher, and the only Head of the church.

e) God alone should receive all the glory for salvation and all else.

What are the Baptist sacraments?
1. There are no sacraments, there are two ordinances

2. Baptism

3. Lord’s Supper or Communion

Baptism according to Baptist's:

1. What is the crucial and essential characteristic of baptism? Why?
a) Baptism of professing believers only (not children or other unwilling or unconscious subjects)

b) Because baptism is a picture of death to sin and rebirth to a new life in Christ, i.e., a physical picture and testimony to the spiritual reality that the professing believer is affirming has already occurred (It is not the cause and occasion of forgiveness for original sin or giving of new life)

c) Because baptism is performed upon profession, the practice of church discipline is essential in striving to maintain the nature of the church as a body of believers only

Hello im a pentecostal
What does bieng a baptist mean and why do you call yourself such?
What do you think about Acts 19:4-5(John's baptism and the other in the name of the Lord Jesus)?
Being a Baptist means that we believe:

B - Bible is the sole authority for the believer
A - Autonomy (each church is self-governed)
P - Priesthood of the believer (every believer is a priest)
T - Two offices within the church (Pastor and Deacon)
I - Individual soul liberty (not legalism)
S - Separation of church and state (churchs accept no state funding)
T - Two ordinances of the church (baptism and the Lord's supper)

That is in general what makes us Baptists, what we believe. We do not descend from John the Baptist. We Baptize self-proclaiming (not children) believers in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, as a symbol of the believer's sharing in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Bible is the complete and infallible revelation of God from God to man. That's it in a nutshell..
