• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I made the decision to stop before new years so i did. not at 11:59 either.

The last pack i bought was about a week before christmas. i was tired of it. since i quit drinking beer, it was a little easier. been about a month now and i think im over it. i do bum about 3 smokes a week, but thats not bad. i have been using copenhagen to fill the void, and now im tired of that too.

I am going to try and deposit the 150 dollars a month from smoke money to a personal savings. I will live longer and save more money!!

Nice going!

Over the past two years I've come down from 2 1/2 - 3 packs a day to an average of a little over one, and the past few days have stretched a pack 24, 25, 27 hours. Hope to eventually quit entirely but, as I've done it for a half century or so, I expect it to take time.

How, other than the Copenhagen, did you cope with the cravings? What are you doing with your hands?

I have not smoked for about 27 days and don't even think about my hands. I wonder if that is true for others. Best wishes for you.

I have quit for almost 9 weeks now. Whevever I get a little urge to smoke I think of the money I saved in the past weeks and don't want to be stressed out about how very much they cost. Then I think of Lung cancer and how much I never want to get that. I don't want to die early, I have my pets to care for. I could not leave them.
