  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I plan on spending about $500 within the next two to three weeks

But I'm not sure what I'll be doing with it yet. I've ruled out PS3 because it's too expensive. You guys get to help decide if I get a Wii or a 360. The Wii looks like it's more fun to play but Xbox Live sounds really good so I'm having a hard time with this.

Most of what I play is RPGs (FF, LoZ) rhythm games (Guitar Hero, DDR) or anything that's like the newer Need for Speed games or Metal Gear Solid, 007, etc. And Smash Brothers/Melee are two of my favorites.
I like tough competition because when I play a game I like to get good at it. For example I can still get over 500,000 points on the original Tetris and I have all but a few songs in Guitar Hero 2 beat on expert. This is one of the big reasons I've been looking at Xbox Live. But I played Wii at a friend's house a few times and it's more fun than sitting in a chair.

Now that you have an idea of how and what I play, which one would you say is better?

I do not own either but I will throw my opinion into the ring here. The wii is more about and interactivity and making the kost out of there new controller (which looks pretty cool), and the 360 definately boasts better graphics and stuff and is more then likely to get a wider variety of games then the wii. However the wii does seem to be more in your intrests from what you say. I am sure that the wii will probably bring to the table quite a few Rpgs, and I could easily see having alot of the types of titles that you want.

Well, your over 12yo so i would say the 360. If all that you want is kids games and zelda go with the wii. If you like a variety of games and a more upgradeable system go for the 360. You can dl movies/tv shows. It has a hard drive to store music etc. They have also been talking of geting games similar to the wii (not playable with the controler, but kids games) So they can expand there market.

I'm going to get all 3, but I only have the 360 so far.

When the PS3 and the Blue Ray start to get going with games/movies that are major system sellers, then I'll get one.

Same with the Wii. I want to buy this so bad, but I just don't see enough games just yet to justify buying the system.

The 360 is awesome! If you like to compete, then online is what you want.
It has almost all game types online.
Arcade games, arcade games remade with awesome graphics and much tighter controls.

I've had the 360 since day 1 and I highly recommend it.

I have bought all three systems, the Xbox360, PS3, and Wii.

I would get the Wii if you don't have an HDTV, or get the Xbox360 if you DO have an HDTV. :)
I would just get the wii period...
It makes you so active

Wii. You can work out while playing. It's cheaper too. Plus, you can play old nintendo games on it. I want one. Probably won't get one for a while though. That's fine. You can go online with the wii and my sister said you can buy games for a few cents.

You will not be dissapointed my friend, and XBox LIVE, is the best.
That made no sense.

I won't be disappointed your friend is the best? Why would that even matter to any of us?

As well, what about X-Box live? You gave a subject to talk about, but didn't elaborate! Do you have something to say about X-Box live?

My advice is look at what games are available for you. If you are going to rent them then look at what is available at your local store. If you are going to buy them then check out what is available to buy and see which one has the better range of games suited to you. As for which one do I prefer? Sorry but I'm bias. I'm a Playstation fanatic all to way and find that even though the PS3 is more expensive, it is very similar to the XBox 360 however there are more games available on Playstation then Xbox. Personally stick to your PS2 if you have one and just wait until the price goes down for the PS3. I own one and find that they are very cool and very worth it but only if you have a broadband internet connection. If you have no internet connection then it is a waste of money because you are only buying a console to play PS3 games on it as you will not be able to make it backwards compatible without the internet. This rule also applies to Xbox 360.
