I've provided multiple scripture passages and you haven't refuted a single one. You just respond with a man made dogma of your own choosing.

Jesus only started one Church.

Why would I want refute passages of scripture? It is you I am refuting, not scripture.

You haven't refuted anything. You've merely stated your opinion.

An opinion which directly contradicts scripture, by the way.

That's just your opinion.........

No, it's scripture:

Romans 2 6God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

Gal 6
7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

1 Cor 6
8On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren. 9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Cor 7:19
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

Ephesians 5:5
For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a person is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Gal 5:6
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any power, but only faith working through love.

John 15

.6If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.....
10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
.
So let's talk about these verses.

FIrst. Note that it says "If you DO NOT remain in me". That is exactly what I was saying previously. Remaining in Christ is staying in spiritual things, and staying away from carnal. If we stray from CHrist in sin then that branch starts to wither.

So what is so much different than what I said?

But you don't seem to believe it or understand it. I'm not sure which.

Does your bible say this?

Romans 2 6God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

I understand it just fine. Yep, that's in my Bible.

We cannot.

If we see that becoming more and more like Christ in sanctification is a lifelong process, than we also see that withering and pulling away from God is also a process that happens over time for most. Not being in fellowship with God is like death.

I don't think this verse is about loosing salvation. I think it is about gradually giving in a little, then again a little and over time we loose fellowship, but that can take years and we may not even see it happening.

Jason, one question: Can your version of Christianity be defined as good news? Would someone hear a condensed version of your posts here and be overcome with joy? Could you tell someone that you have the best news every for them, and then proceed to explain all you have in this thread, after which they would leap for joy as walk away?

Jesus said if we don't remain in him we will be thrown into the fire.

Paul said that we reap what we sow and that we will be judged according to our works.

I think you are misreading the New Testament.

That's not what that verse says.

The verse says that if we do not remain in Him like a branch we wither and die. ((Is this physical or spiritual death) And dead things are picked up and thrown into the fire.

However, spiritual death is not being in communion with God.

So this does not necessarily mean any loss of salvation, but spiritual death because we separate ourselves from God during life.

Salvation is a free gift, not a reward.

A person can receive a car as a free gift. Is the car no longer a gift if he has to give the car general maintenance, and he has to obey the traffic laws with it? No. The car is still a free gift.

A reward is something you earn in the end (Without having any benefits for a certain period of time). Salvation (and it's benefits) can be had right here and right now as a free gift. But like all gifts, they require you to take care of them on some level. That is not the same thing as waiting to one day gain salvation as a reward by working hard for it.

Salvation can be had today as a free gift by anyone if they just repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. From that point, they have to continue to abide in Christ and His Word.

Yes. The person who has been enslaved by their sin and wants to overcome their sin would definitely leap for joy. They might have destroyed their life by gambling, alcohol, and or sexual immorality. But with Jesus, He can set them free from all of that and give them a new life in Him. A life full of love, peace, joy, forgiveness, happiness, and goodness.

So God is asking us to pay the maintenance on His gift of salvation?

I don't think God gives the kind of gifts human beings do. God gives us the best gifts, like salvation. As I have said in the past to you many, many times we are SEALED in the Holy Spirit, God Himself until the day of redemption.

Sealing is the covenant that He makes with us.

That is the MISSING PIECE in your entire scenario. You cannot explain why salvation seals our covenant with Jesus with the indwelling Holy Spirit until the Day of our Redemption. Christ says that He WILL NEVER leave us.

All very interesting I am sure.

The person I was responding to is treating salvation as a reward not as a free gift, freely given and freely received.

God is very merciful. He realizes some may honestly struggle with sin. But nowhere does God condone his believers into thinking they can sin and still be saved. It doesn't work like that. Also, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
