• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I need help.

Presbyterian I would think appropriate. I am fairly sure they tick off all your requirements.

EPCEW for Presbyterian is I believe the only conservative branch:

They are apparently traditional in worship and conservative in doctrine and are confessional (Westminster).

Unfortunately there isn't a EPCEW church in my area but thank you. :)

Hey Greter. You sound like you have had solid teaching so far. Can i recomend some online mi istriez that you can watch at your leisure.. Check out charles Stanley its called intouch.org he is solid.. Anothervis john macarthur at gty.org try those two out. There are others i use.. Also i think you are searching for an evangelical assembly. They are nondenominational but stick to scripture.. Please stay clear of the mormons(lds-latter day saints), and the jahovah witnesses (watchtower) as they both deny Christs deity. They are very crafty. I talk to alot of people from britain that have been fooled.. I see you have the pentecostals all figured out also.. They are also warped in their teaching.. Just take everythi g in light of scripture.. As i think you have been doing.. You'll do great.. Blessings..

xtra - the issue with non-denoms is they typically aren't traditional and their theologies are so mish-mashed you'll get a different one with each pastor/congregation.

Lutheran would actually be a very close fit too. The only difference would be on baptism: don't believe it's symbolic and it's necessary, but not absolutely necessary (i.e. if you are able to, you should be baptized as it is a command from God). Within Lutheranism you would have to find an ELCE church and unless you speak Portuguese, the closes to you would be Cheltenham (there is also a Presbyterian congregation there as well).

Hello everyone. :)

I am looking for a church, I am not baptised but for around a year I slowly accepted christ as my saviour and realised I wish to be a christian and meet people similar. I just have a problem. There is no church around me (I think) that my beliefs suit.

I would like to talk to others from different christian denominations, that believe my beliefs fit their church. I am in the UK (Bristol, precisely) so preferably the churches are in the UK (obviously)

Here is an overview of my beliefs:

There is one God, he exists in three. Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Bible is the literal truth, everything in it happened, it should be the only source of faith and information. If it is not backed by the Bible then it is not Christian.

Jesus will literally return and there is a literal heaven and hell.

Sunday is the sabbath day.

Homosexuality is an absolute abomination, it is an evil act which should never be accepted.

Speaking in tongues, prophecies and other gifts ceased along time ago.

Pacifism, while important (and should always be attempted) is not always the right approach. There is a time for peace and a time for war. ( I agree fully with the Just war theory)

Baptism is essential but not necessarily important, it is purely symbolic. I also support infant baptism.

I am not really concerned with the organisation of a church, I believe it's up to us. I couldn't care less as long as they follow the Bible.

Just every church I look at looks more like a rock concert than a church, with awful Hillsong-esque music. I would also like to rule out the Church of England, I want nothing to do with a church that is heading quickly towards secularism and is continung to support abominations.

I'm looking for a church that follows no man, no ideology. Just for the Bible, by the Bible.

This has lead to much frustration and made me feel hopeless.

Feel free to ask any more questions you may have about my beliefs.

If you are having trouble finding a church, there is a nondenominational church called "Harvester Christian Church" that records all the sermons and makes them available online. Check out "harvesterchristian.org" it you want to know more. I also highly recommend visiting "harvest.org". There are many podcasts you can listen to and ways to get connected. Hope this helps you!I praying for you.

Hi. I think you have a pretty good , fair, and accurate set of Standards ... except I wouldn't be too dogmatic on a few of them . The Nicene Creed is the non-negotiable set of Biblical Standards that you want to have ... and applying the following adage for the others : 'Unity in necessary things, liberty in doubtful things, and charity in all things'.

Within Protestantism (The BIBLE truly being upheld to the level it should be) , youll find some persuasions that differ somewhat but yet they wont jeopardize the essentials of the historic Christian Faith... and its the essentials we need to concentrate on . IE: I attend a United Methodist Church but I could have great Fellowship and joy being with my Brothers and Sisters from an Assembly of God Church , a Baptist Church, or Presbyterian Church because the essentials are in common ; I couldn't say that for Roman Catholics , Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons , United Pentecostal Church sect, Word of Faith sect, or ultra-liberal (carnal) denominations such as United Church of Christ which I was a member of and got saved at.

If you go to www.equip.org which is the Christian Research Institute and fill out their Contact Form, you can ask them what are the MAIN things to look for in a healthy well balanced Church , plus you can read their scholarly articles on toxic and unhealthy circles within Christiandom which you will want to avoid .

When you go about visiting local Churches, ask for their Statement of Faith ...and give each Church at least 3 visits before formulating a conclusion. I wish you success in finding a local Body to be a part of and where you can grow in your Walk with God and serve him and Others .
