• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I will pray for you. If you are bothered by your smoking, stop. If you can't, consult a physician or a self-help group. Can you talk to a school counselor? Do you have friends that can help you?

Keep coming here and reaching out for help!

Better for you to own up and tell your parents than for your parents to find out, and believe me, sooner or later they will. Your parents want you to clean yourself up at least as much as you do, and if you come to them asking for help, I can't imagine they wouldn't help you. Obviously they won't be happy to hear about what you have been doing, but if they are wise, they will be proud of you for having the courage to admit your problem and ask for help. It takes a big man to that, and part of being a man is to face up to your problems and deal with them instead of running and hiding from them.

May I ask why did you start in the first place? I had my first cigarette at 15 and start it up at 16. I know a lot of mine had to do with the pressure of being part of something and hanging out with others.

Anyway I think that your parents already know - most of them usually do but are waiting for you to talk to them. It is a hard issue to raise for all involved. I think that you should start talking to someone about it all. Obviously you are not happy with what is going on and you need to change. It will be hard but it is also something that you will never regret. Trust me when I say it is better to talk it out now than wait.

God bless and if you need any more help just ask.

Best you stop now buddy before its too late. The longer you wait to quit, the harder it will get.

Don't follow the crowd, don't do what everyone else it doing. I started smoking by the age of 13, and it was all to fit in, by the age of 19 I quit, was pretty hard, but now I did not touch a cigarette for the past year and a half and I feel great.

Lay off these bad habbits, you are ruining your body for nothing. Don't let anyone trick you into these things, and don't try fit in with the wrong crowd.

I will pray for you, and you should pray as well. It is through Him you can stop. He gives you strength, and He gives you the power to push away these bad habits.

Blessings

Yep smoking cigs is a very addictive thing, and is hard to get off them. Pot is too but it doesn't have the horrible additives they put in cigs to hook you.

I understand the pressure of growing up, and the hard things young people face these days.

So you reached out which is the 1st step, admitting you have a problem stopping. Lots of support here.
Read and do what is the best way for you to stop, cold turkey or with help of the patches ect. from the drug store.

You can do this
