  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have XP and use Internet Explorer (yeah I am lazy and its what came on the computer). Anyway, I keep getting that error that asks if I want to send in the error report or not. And this wouldn't bother me, but it happens every two minutes or more often.

So I deleted IE from the hard drive and then reinstalled it from the XP disk thinking that might fix it. But its still giving me problems. Can anyone help me? Should I try a different browser? Someone fix this!!!!

I have the updates yes.

HAHA It happens randomly. Anytime I try to change sites, if I click a button on the one I am on, if the computer thinks I have been there too long (like more than 30 seconds heh) it happens all the time, and I haven't found any site that it doesn't happen with.

The rest of my computer works just fine. I just installed msn explorer so I can at least check my email and it hasn't happened once with this browser. It only happens with Internet Explorer.

I don't know anything about computers, so you are gonna have to ask questions in laymans terms.... sorry

Hey guys

Thank you for asking and answering this problem, I have been having the same problem, since I got a new computer, about 6 months ago. Now I won't

Thank you.

OB

Namaste all,

what this is called is a "work around" however, the underlying problem still remains and has not been resolved by disabling the automatic reporting.

however, the information provided is not sufficient to properly diagnose the issue. often, however, the work around will suffice...

well what more information do you need? i mean MSN worked just fine with no error reports. its only IE. so there is something wrong with IE. and it remained a problem after i deleted IE and then reinstalled it from the XP disk

"properly diagnose the issue"
...unless you're a windows guru you can't. This error is designed for Microsoft to help them reduce the number of bugs, not for the end user to attempt a fix.

In fact there's no way to tell exactly what the error is in the first place except that you know that one has happened...well you can tell, but it's not worth the hassle...but you're welcome to try! ;)

ah, well fortunatly for me, i happen to be a windows guru (though that term isn't really appropos) :) i'm what is known as a Microsoft MVP.

in any case, depending on what's happening with the machine there will be several diagnostic processes that can be run to tell you percisely what is going on.

generally speaking, if you have an application, such as IE, simply shut down, it will produce a thing called a user.dmp and a Dr.Watson log file. Of course, this is predicated on which OS you are running and how you've configured it. there is another file that can be generated, called a memory.dmp, however that would typically cause the machine to reboot should that type of error occur. it's known as a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death).

Blanton.. so, you're running WinXP, home or Pro? After you've installed the IE from the disk are you checking for and applying the updates to the software? If not, that may resolve the issue straight away for you. Also, you should ensure that you have installed the lastest Operating System Service Pack on your machine. You can find these updates off the Micro$oft site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

I'm making some broad assumptions here... such as, you don't have a subscription to TechNet and so forth.
