I need help with Calculus

Hi, I am in college and I am signed up for calculus

so Logarithms are like

10 = 1
100 = 2
1,000 = 3
10,000 = 4 ... and so fourth right?

Assumed base of 10 always

I am kind of confused about limitations like

-3 < x < 7 x =/ 4

or

(x - 2)(x - 2)
-----
(x - 2)

x =/ 2

Also I need help with Cos, Sin and Tan... it is like this angle/that angle?

Logarithms always confused me .. but I can explain Sine, Cosine, and Tangent ..

Yes, they are simply angles. Draw a right triangle on a piece of paper. Label one of the sharp angles something like .. A.

The sine of angle A is simply the length of the opposite side .. divided by the length of the hypotenuse. How did I know that? Because I simply memorized:

SOH CAH TOA (say it exactly the way it looks lol)

You want the sine of angle A? It's just Opposite over Hypotenuse.
You want the cosine of angle A? It's just Adjacent over Hypotenuse.
You want the tangent of angle A? It's just Opposite over Adjacent.

I really hope this helps and doesn't just confuse you even more. As a graduate student I can promise you that memorizing SOH CAH TOA is the best thing you'll ever do for yourself!!
