I'm Isabella from SouthWales and I'm 16.
I want to become a Christian, and I'm trying, but I need some help.
There is next to no churches here, and through different schools and various places I've been I've never met a Christian to talk to. I do not know of any churches I can go to, and I have looked, what can I do? Am I supposed to pray to Jesus, or God? I do not know what to do to become. Any help?

I became a christian at 16. what I did I prayed saying i was to say sorry for the things I had done. I realized that Jesus loved me more than anyone and that he died for me. I then gave my life to Jesus and asked him to come into mine.

There is a really good course called the alpha course which runs in the UK. Try goggling it and see if there is one near you. It is mainly run by the mainstream denominations.

Hope that helps

Isabella,

Essentially, becoming a Christian means to trust Christ alone for your salvation. That usually means understanding that we have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. That means that God is perfect and cannot allow sin into His eternal kingdom, so therefore we are excluded. But God's love for us is so immense that He sent His only Son to pay our sin debt. If we entrust ourselves to Him alone for salvation, by the imputed merits of His sacrifice we are forgiven and reconciled to God. God put His seal on this covenant transaction by raising Christ from death, as a sign of His acceptance and so Jesus could be our high priest forevermore.

It would be great if you can find a body of believers to fellowship with and help build you up. There is much more to it, such as being filled with the Holy Spirit and living for God, but this is the simple basis of being a Christian. Are you good with all this?

Some verses that might help: Rom 3.23; Rom 5.1; Rom 8.1-3; Rom 10.6-11.

Isabella, first I'd like to say welcome to the community on Christian Forums. We've all been in your position before putting our lives into Jesus' hands; lost and confused. I want to help you. It's alright if there is no church near you, because the Lord says that two together worshipping in his name is considered a congregation. Perhaps there is someone in your family or a friend that is Christian? If not, pray to the Lord Jesus', our Saviour and ask Him to guide you. Tell him that you are sorry for the sins you have committed and confess that you need Him to be saved.

If you cannot get a Bible near you, you can search up online Bibles. Start reading it and pray to the Lord to help you understand. Begin with Genesis, the story of how the world was created by the Lord.

Scriptures that may help you fortify your belief and strenth in Him are John 3: 16 and the Psalms. I always read a passage before I go to bed.

Accompany your bible reading with prayer. Ask the Lord for help, and thank Him for giving you another day of life. If there is something that you truly want (and does not harm others nor yourself) then ask the Lord. He's our Father and He will be more than glad to give it to you.

Mathews 7:7 "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.

Other things that I did when I first began was watching Christian movies and listening to Christian music.
Youtube "Father's Love Letter- Video"

It's composed out of the Scriptures and have a personal effect over you :). Just watch it.

I'll be praying for you, and if anything God is right there by your side!

Also, you must confess outloud that you believe in the Lord Jesus and that he died in atonement for your sins. :) You can say something simple like this:

"God, I know that You sent Jesus to us, to save us from sin and death.
Therefore, I repent from my sins of the past. Thank you Lord, clean me, make me anew and I promise forever to devote my life to you."

There is a portal spoken in the Bible, It is called the Temple of the Father in Heaven.
Go to Mark 15:38. The Temple was once closed. Now because of the Acts of the Father in Heaven and the Acts of His Son. The Temple is now open to everyone.

To Go to the Father in Heaven. Just " Go in ". It is that simple. Jesus all ways
pointed to the Father in Heaven. "Go to the Father in Heaven".

Dear IsabellaN7. In Matthew 22, verses 35-40, Jesus tells a Lawyer:
" The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might. The second is like it: Love thy neighbour as thyself." Then Jesus says this: " On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Love is what God wants from us, selfless and always ready to act. God will see our sincere efforts to love and care, and God will approve and bless us. Everything we say or do, or advise or stand for, should be done from selfless Love.
Jesus will give us his Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will empower us with His Love. Jesus told us to: " ask and be given," then we thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour. (all we know and all we meet) We keep praying and asking for Love and Joy, and keep sharing it all around.
( Matthew 7, verse 7-8)
The Bible keeps telling us to " Repent," to change from unloving and selfish to becoming loving and caring. Love is very catching, and Love will keep growing and growing. We may stumble and forget at times, but then we ask God to forgive us, get up and carry on loving and caring. Love is a Christian`s great weapon, we can overcome all, and change all for the better.
People will treat us the same, and many will want to join us.
Trust and obey, Isabella, there is no surer and worthwhile way.
I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

To become a Christian, all you have to do is believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ and the human/divine Son of God (Jn. 20:31, 3:36, 1 Jn. 2:23), and that he died on the Cross for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day (1 Cor. 15:1-4, Lk. 24:46-47, Mt. 20:19, 26:28).

After we become Christians, to help keep up our relationship with God, we should pray to him every day, such as with the Lord's Prayer (Mt. 6:9-13), praising and worshipping him, confessing our sins to him, asking him for what we need today, and thanking him for all that he has given us (Philip. 4:6). And throughout the day we should immediately bring to him in prayer anything that we become worried about at anytime (Philip. 4:6-7).

We should also fellowship with other Christians every day (Heb. 3:13, 10:25), at least in some fashion (Mt. 18:20), such as on this forum, being exhorted by them and exhorting them in turn (Heb. 3:13).

We also need to examine ourselves to make sure that we're truly in the faith (2 Cor. 13:5, Prov. 28:26, 14:12). The way to do this is to read every word of the Bible (Heb. 4:12, Mt. 4:4) and see if we accept everything it teaches as having come from God (Jn. 8:47, 2 Tim. 3:16). For just as a true faith will initially come from reading (or hearing) what the Bible teaches (Rom. 10:17, 2 Tim. 3:15), so we can know that we're remaining in the true faith if we continue to believe everything that the Bible teaches came from God (Jn. 8:31b, 2 Tim. 4:2-4, 1 Tim. 4:1, Mk. 8:35-38).

In order to have any real relationship with Jesus and God the Father and the Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19), most importantly we must believe the right things about Jesus (Jn. 14:6-7): that he's God the Word made flesh (Jn. 1:1,14), that he's the Christ (1 Jn. 5:1, 2:22), and that he's the only begotten (only born) Son of God (Jn. 3:16,36, 1 Jn. 2:23), meaning that he's the only person ever born without any human father (Lk. 1:34-35). And we must believe that Jesus lived a perfectly sinless life (Heb. 4:15, 2 Cor. 5:21) and so he could die on the Cross for our sins and rise from the dead on the third day (1 Cor. 15:1-4). He rose and will remain forever in an immortal flesh and bones human body (Lk. 24:39, 2 Jn. 1:7) as our eternally-human high priest/mediator (1 Tim. 2:5, Heb. 2:16-17, 7:24-26).

Once we come into faith in Jesus, we must obey him and God the Father and the Holy Spirit by repenting from all of our sins and getting water-immersion (burial) baptized into Jesus (Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:3-5, Gal. 3:27). And we must partake of the divine flesh and blood of the bread and wine of communion (Jn. 6:53, Mt. 26:26-28, 1 Cor. 10:16, 11:27-30). And we can get hands laid on us to receive Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 8:17) and one or more of the Holy Spirit's wonderful gifts (Acts 19:6, 1 Cor. 12:8-10). Then, washed from our sins by water baptism (Acts 22:16) and empowered by the Holy Spirit within us (Acts 1:8, Eph. 3:16), we must each and every day for the rest of our lives deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Jesus (Lk. 9:23, 2 Cor. 5:15), by continuing in the faith to the end (Heb. 3:6,12,14, 6:4-8, Jn. 15:6, 2 Tim. 2:12), by repenting from every sin we might commit to the end (Heb. 10:26-29, 1 Cor. 9:27, Lk. 12:45-46), and by doing the particular spiritual works which he has given us as individuals to do to the end (Mk. 13:34, Rom. 12:6-8, Titus 3:8).

Amen.

The best way to understand the Bible, as a whole, is simply to read every word of it (Matthew 4:4) over and over again. It ends up explaining itself once every word of it has become completely engrained in your memory, and you see all the connections between verses regarding something in one place in the Bible and other verses regarding that same thing in other places in the Bible. It's by comparing and combining related verses from different places in the Bible that we arrive at correct doctrine (Isaiah 28:9-10, 1 Corinthians 2:13).

It's also a good practice to always end each reading session with a prayer for understanding and remembrance of the entire Bible.

One way to read the Bible is to think of it as seven volumes:

1. Genesis to Deuteronomy
2. Joshua to Esther
3. Job to Song of Solomon
4. Isaiah to Malachi
5. Matthew to Acts
6. Romans to Philemon
7. Hebrews to Revelation

You can read a chapter in each volume every day. This will keep you current in every part of the Bible. After a while, there won't be any part you haven't read recently enough to remember what it says. When you reach the end of a volume, simply start again at the first chapter of that volume. In this way, you will be cycling through smaller volumes like #6 and #7 much more often than larger volumes like #2, but the smaller volumes are so much more dense with doctrine that it can be profitable to read them over and over more often.

Also, you can listen to recordings of people reading the Bible, whenever you need to keep your eyes on something else while you listen (such as keeping your eyes on the road while you drive, or on a cutting board while you're preparing food, or on your clippers while you're trimming a hedge). In this way, you can listen to the Bible throughout the day, whenever you don't need to be thinking about something else (such as at your workplace). Also, you can listen to the Bible even while you're going to sleep, so that it will become part of even your subconscious mind.

Thank you all for your responses, I have a full e-book version of the Bible which I have set up a day by day reading plan for. There is lots of "versions" of the Bible, is there any specific I should be reading? After finally getting in touch with the council they have found a church I could go to, but they must be contacted first. I sent an email but I'm waiting for a response. Thanks for all your help.

Hi Isabella, Basically there are so many different forms of Christianity. The best advice i can give to you is to speak to God as a friend. It is much easier to connect with him on a deeper level. The biggest thing is to keep the relationship with Christ strong. As for the lack of Church's in SouthWales There is not much you can do about it, just keep your nose in the book of God and maybe one day you can open up your own Church in SouthWales. I always say there is your way or God's way. Once you give your life to the Lord everything will come so much easier, you will be told/shown where to go and what to do with your life. Just give it time. (This was my experience as a Born Again Christian)

God Bless!

Consider all the times Jesus prayed and where he choose to do it.

He prayed in the mountain and He prayed in the field. He prayed under the olive-trees and in the temple. He prayed as He walked along the roads of Galilee. He prayed on the cross.

Get to a church when you can, but live your life in a state of prayer. I can always hear the quiet still voice of the spirit. Disciplining, loving, comforting, convincing. Even when everything around me is in chaos, I can hear him. This is true prayer

Isabella-

If our salvation depended on what we said and did, none of us would be saved. And that is due to none of us being perfect. It's that simple. God demands absolute perfection of anyone who would enter his presence on their own merit; we cannot attain that perfection. So if our entry into his presence depends on our being spotless through own own efforts, we're already doomed.

Fortunately for us, God himself laid out the blueprints for a mission, whose goal was to replace our unrighteousness with God's own righteousness. And through his Son, Jesus Christ, he successfully accomplished this mission:

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished - he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:19-26,NIV)

The righteousness we could never obtain through the keeping of laws and commandments due to our inherent spiritual weakness, God has seen fit to obtain for us through his own work on our behalf. And by ensuring our salvation in this manner God has shown his infinite wisdom.

The most dangerous sin that any of us are tempted by is not a sin of the flesh; it's Pride. And if our salvation depended on our own actions in order to make ourselves perfect, that sin would rear its ugly head. But as it is, there is no reason for any of us to boast, since our salvation cannot be earned as a salary by any of us, but instead must be received as a gift, totally unearned and undeserved. So the credit for our salvation must be recognized as due God, and him alone.

As for Bibles, the NIV, NASB, ESV, and even the Jerusalem Bible are all good for study.

But as it is, there is no reason for any of us to boast,

This is what the Lord says:

“Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,
24but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.

A Christian is someone who has become "born again", a child of God, by receiving God's Spirit . . . something you are not born with, you need to call on God . . . . you actually have to expect and desire God to do this.

Acts 2:4 onwards describes the disciples receiving (see also John 3:8, Acts 10:44-48).
We have all received the same.

We have a summer get-together at Bath, 11-18 August, meetings 10:30am and 7pm most days with stuff to do in between. (There is a regular train from South Wales, ideally come with an adult, you can be met at the station).

If you visit there is a very good chance you will go away with what we have all received!

The New King James Version (NKJV) is a good translation for a new Bible reader. It is close to the original Hebrew and Greek and it is easy to read and understand. :)

God bless!
