• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Latly, I have been feeling more and more depressed. I cannot seem to get myself out of it. I am not sleeping, or eating. I have started hearing voices, but I am not suicidal. I don't know what to do. I see a therapist, but he says that it will go away. Should I ask to be put on medicine before this gets out of control? :help:

My doctor put me on zoloft, and it helped then I had to be full of pride and quit taking it, I am not in a runt again, but don't wnat to go to my doctor and tell him I failed. I am having the same feelings your having, not sleeping, I eat too much, I don't do much though in life, just let it drift past me, everyday bring closer to the end, never enjoying anything, never showing emotion. I would say go on some medicine it helps, but do you want to be on it the rest of your life? That is what I asked myself, so then I turned to the healing power of God, and am still watiing for that to kick in.

I feel for you. Don't give up.

As far as medication goes, I don't think you should seek for that kind of advice on these forums. For that you need to talk to your parents and maybe even a different doctor (a Christian doctor if you can).

I for one have gone through some very nasty depression periods in my spiritual walk. And yes, they did go away. I feel that they were even a good thing for me. First of all they caused me to draw closer to Jesus. They also made me stronger later in life. Remember Hebrews 12:6 - "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth" Diamonds are formed under great amounts of pressure!

This does not mean that you should just put up with it though. You definately need to talk to your parents about this if you haven't already.

I'm praying for you! :prayer:

pentecostalgirl0414,

I am more than willing to talk/listen to you if you need to talk.

I know how you feel. I have been dealing with depression for about 5 years now, and seen doctor after doctor.

I always used to struggle with self harm. PLEASE don't let it get so bad you resort to that!!!! Talk to someone... if not me, SOMEONE.

I know it is hard to talk about, but believe me, once you take that first step, it DOES get easier. Remember "I (YOU) can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me (YOU)."

I am praying for ya, girl
Hang in there and keep your chin up and your eyes focused on the LORD.

Trust your therapist, but keep him informed of what's going on. If the concern is really strong then talk to him about it. If he doesn't want to put you on meds...then ask why. It's your right to know what he thinks about your situation. If you are not happy about the progress then talk to someone who can help you make an informed decision about getting the help you feel you need.
We believe in you, and you'll get through this. You are a very strong person.
