I am having problems with a lot of things dealing with me and people around me. Although i don't want to linger on me i need help dealing with a close friend that i go to school with... she hurts herself by cutting and she tells people that she is going out with a this guy that she confessed to me that he doesnt exist.. she keeps telling people about what they do together and she asked me to promise not to tell.. she told me last night she carved that she loves ------- (cant say names) in her leg.... i keep telling her i love her and God loves her and she believes me and she trusts me not to say anything... if you all have any advice on what i can do about this situation please feel free to tell me.. I pray about her but is that the only thing i can do???

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. Just be there for her Mellissa! A friend of mine knows a girl who does things like that and she has told her "Look, I am here for you OK? 24 hours a day, I am here for you. When you want to SI, just phone me and talk."
This strangely enough works for this particular girl! And, she is permitted to just talk, and talk, and talk. By talking, she forgets to SI because by the time they finish chatting, my friend has a way in which she can pick her up and make her laugh. So all is well there.
Maybe you could try the same?

Love her. Let her know you're there. Tell her you love her. Tell her you care. Hug her as much as you can. And try to give her as much comfort as possible.
