  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Since I have become a christian I have had only depression and frustration, and here is why. You see I have a sever communication problem. I am very shy in fact shy would be a major understatment. I can't even talk to my family about regular life. Now as a christian we are suppose to witness, I don't see how it is possible for me. Now I have tried on several occasions and chickened out. A couple time I've tried to some friends. But I end up just leaving tracts places and I have handed a couple out. Now I feel like If I do witness I'm just doing it because I have to because if I don't I'm not really a christain and will go to hell. I do get out there and try I'm just so fearful of conversation that I can't do it. So I keep getting depressed and down thinking Jesus is ashamed of me. I just want to give up and forget it. what do I do I think I'm doomed. sorry this was long. thank you and pray for me.

dmpeace..

You are saved.. not because you witness to others.. but because you have repented & accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior.. So you don't have to worry about that, ok?

I am basically a shy person too. When I first accepted Jesus, I was uncomfortable witnessing to others about God because I did not know His Word well & did not understand who I am in Him..

One verse that helped me a lot was this:

2Ti 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Over the past couple of years, I have studied & learned.. I am a child of the King of Kings.. I am the temple of the Holy Spirit.. I am an overcomer in Him.. I am uniquely & wonderfully made - in the image of God..

AND so are you..

I suggest that you get deeply into God's Word.. don't worry about what you can do for Him.. just be with Him.. And as your confidence builds.. so will your witnessing power..

And there are many ways to witness.. besides passing out tracts, and such. I witness at my job by letting others see Jesus in me.. I try to be kind & considerate of others.. to love them because God loves them.. whether they know Him or not.

2 of my co-workers have accepted Jesus because of me.. and often my office needs a revolving door as people come & go.. just to talk about something going on in their lives.. and I seldom have to open my mouth.. cause they feel the peace of Jesus in the room..

God bless you richly, dmpeace..

In Him..

You shouldn't be feeling like you're required to witness to be a Christian, you witness so you can help all the lost souls out there to know God so they can spend eternity with Him! I'm sure you love your friends and family, witness to them so they can get to know Him and have their lives changed just as He has changed your life :)

You should be proud. By handling out tracts and making even a modest effort you are doing much more than most Christians. This is not about you, but about the Holy Spirit and what He can do. No one comes to Christ without the Spirit first moving. When you leave a tract and someone reads it, if the Spirit is moving in that person he might be saved. We may never know. Just keep handing out tracts, leaving them places, and making whatever effort you can. If there comes a time where you need to verbally talk to someone, the Spirit will enable you. Until then, you are on the right track with your effort and there is no need for you to feel bad.
God bless you for being so faithful to His call.

Dear Friend;

Witnessing for Christ is a challenge, especially in these
times in which we live. yet, we have to have an
answer for those who ask us about the hope that
fills us.(1 Peter 3:15) Yet, you can a witness for
Christ, by telling others what he has done for you,
By giving out tracts is still a witness. It's more than
what some Christians do.

As you share your faith, trust in the Holy Spirit, who
has called you to faith through the Gospel. This
same Spirit will equip you to carry out that task.
When you worry about what to say, just remember
this word of Scripture; " To man belong the plans
of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply
of the tongue." (Proverbs 16:1) The Holy Spirit
will give you the courage to speak and act on
behalf of the Gospel.

Do not be discouraged with your efforts to witness.
At least you are making a effort, some Christians
don't even do that. In time, God will remove the
shyness, and give you the confidence to speak
His word. Remember to do so with love and
respect.

Blessings.
