• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am feeling so anxious about this that I had to take ANOTHER Xanax.
Anyway, I just found out that one of the tenants has a pet Ball Python!!!! (we are not allowed any pets here what so ever) The tenant says that they will keep it close in her room, but the idea makes me feel panicky cause I heard in the news that they escape and bite, in some cases, kill people. This tenant works full time, so what if the snake gets out. Telling the landlord is out of the question as that will cause a lot of trouble right there and the internet will be disconnected if I do tell the landlord. The tenants room is located about 20 feet from my room. Any suggestions as to what I should do to keep this snake out of my room or even the bathroom with out the other tenants knowing? Trust me I am trying to find a much better place to live, ASAP! I could use any advice or if you happen to know someone who has had this type of snake before, what is their temperament? Thank you kindly for any advice you have!
I am so sick of all this stress, this is the 5th night I had to take a Xanax to calm down. :sigh: :(

Don't worry Flower as Ball Pythons are a relatively small python and are non-venomous which means they don't have poison. You have nothing to worry about as this snake will not harm you. If you are concerned I suggest you shut your door behind you everytime you leave your room. Apparently moth balls are a good snake repellent so you can put a few of them around your door to keep any likely snake out. Moth balls are cheap and can be purchased at any supermarket - should be stocked with the insect sprays, etc. I think any strong smelling substance like perfume around your door will stop the snake as snakes smell with their tongues and their senses are very sensitive.

Furthermore this person would more that likely keep the snake in an aquarium so the likelyhood of this thing escaping is very slim. Just ask the owner if the snake is kept in a secure enclosure?

DON'T WORRY Flower as you will be alright. This snake WILL NOT harm you so be at ease about this!

Pray to God regularly to help you with your anxiety issues and try not to rely on Xanax to deal with them. If you feel anxious just lay on your bed for a moment and try to process your fears that way, until they leave your mind.

I hope this has helped? Praying for you!

it are the people with 'snake/reptile hearts' that you need to worry about flower.

We have been living on a property that has many poisonous snakes on it but we never had any problem with them. Snakes are shy creatures and like Victor points out this snake is not poisonous and is to small to be able to harm you.

Be at ease Flower

Thank you SO MUCH Victorium for this awesome advice!!!! I will certainly try it as I didn't know that strong perfumes would keep snakes away, what a great idea! I will try to get my anxiety down too and lately it has been very hard.
Thank you for your prayers as well as you don't know how much I appreciate your awesome advice and prayers.

Some excellent advice here Petal. I know it is hard when you are scared of something but I don't think you have anything to worry about either. I have actually held snakes and in one case even had my photo with one. It was either a python or a boa I don't know which but it was a really sweet critter. Fortunately I'm not scared of snakes.

I also think it would be a good idea to start learning about them as that will go a long way towards overcoming your fear. Remember how scared you used to be of spiders till you learned more about them? I know you are still scared of some spiders like I am but as the saying goes "knowledge is power". Perhaps you can try watching YouTube videos or looking at pictures, just as much as you think you can handle.

Anyway I'm praying for you as always :pray::pray::pray::hug::hug::hug::hug:
