  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You'd think only dogs and few animals do this.

I am also quite surprise myself.

I never done it before when I slept in a normal bed...

But lately due changes in circumstances, I've been sleeping on the floor with a mat and I've been instinctively / autonomously walking in circles over my mat a couple times before lying down.

I can't seem to avoid it!

I just keep doing it every time! I also have other sleep habits that is common to dogs and cats to attain a more defensible stance and I'm a very "discriminate" sleeper. I can sleep to the loud noise of crickets...But a quiet rusling in the nearby brush will immediatley jolt me awake.

I very rarely spend time in the outdoors. I'm finding it strange to have these animal instincts plus very sharp sense of hearing. I can even hear in the ultrasonic range. Must be something I've missed.

Try walking over to your bed and immediately lying down for only 5 seconds.
Do this every time. You can easily create a new 5 second habit.

After a few days you can stay lying down longer....but the goal is only 5 seconds for now.
Let us know how it goes after a week. These are called "Mini-Habits" and they are very easy to create because they are tiny. You can will yourself to do anything tiny.

It sounds like it is because of a feeling of insecurity in your surroundings or circumstances. The brain will go into survival mode whether we want it to or not.

This is probably true. I tried to search for examples and all I can find are with cats and dogs.

But even cats rarely do it so I'm not sure if other creatures do it.

Sometimes I sleep in a normal bed and lay down normally. I only turn around when I'm sleeping on the floor in a mat is the most consistent pattern I found so far.

When in the army and out in the field, particularly, cowboy county, my sleeping patterns altered.

I have extremely shallow form of sleep regardless of situation. The sleep pattern is similar to a dog or cat. Waking up in short intervals and I wake up in the slightest disturbance.

Doesn't make sense right. I live in the city in a house.... Something must be triggering my defense mechanisms.

You are a Gentile and a dog at the same time, yet even dogs fed from the master's table.

Matthew 15:27
But she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

So I am not surprised that you walk around your bed before sleeping.

I have always found that if you are not comfortable after a half dozen rotations just reverse the rotation and you will be comfortable with one or two rotations. You already mostly curled so just tuck your nose into your butt, sniff deeply and you will be asleep in no time.

I have been told that most heart attacks in bed occur when a person is sleeping on the left side.

I have no idea if it is true.
It could be true, and it wouldn't be a surprise if the same relative proportion of people sleep on their left side. What are the chances?

Should You Sleep On Your Right Side
Or Your Left Side, or your back ?
Does it matter? never heard of circles.

I always have my back against the wall (or sleep in my back) if I'm alone. It's a more defensible position.

NOT against physical dangers though but from evil spirits

I never get nightmares this way and if I do, it's easy to repel the spirit. People are known to die from nightmares.

If sleeping with another person or a dog, back should be facing them.

You mean wolves? Dogs came from wolf. And the Jews, sheep?

Ironically, in Isaiah, a cow is considered more sacred than either dog or lamb (both lamb and dog considered in equal terms)
