I ask myself am I losing my mind or is my dad really that cruel sometimes with his language.
Is it right for him to do something like this? Let me explain:
He started criticizing this sleepshirt I had on, saying how it made my body look ugly and that I should look pretty because I am still young. I told him that I tried to look pretty before but he never liked the way I looked when I did try (he thought it was "too pretty"), and then suddenly tied my desire/method to look pretty (in the clothes I had bought over the past year) with "bringing Christianity into the house" and he said, “I hate it.” Therefore, the clothes I bought in an effort to look better are tied to Christianity. He wants me to look better but doesn't like it when I actually do - equating my clothes with "Christian clothes." My clothes do not look like Christian clothes (whatever that means) but if they did, so what? The cognitive dissonance on his part is killing me.
