YOU were the one pulling things out of context. You quoted Christ forgiving those that were killing him when the Father would not let the cup pass, and you equated that to Alex venting about some rude girls and making a joke about giving them burgers.

Anyways, this whole thing is silly.

Alex, I thought the burger joke was downright hilarious. make sure you supersize their fries.... to supersize their thighs!

Coach
Hey - when they get chubby enough, I could totally hang out with them so that I don't get stuck talking to the wingman.

I agree with what most people have said - the girls' laughing was rude. However, how do you know they were laughing AT your friend? Are you sure they were laughing at him cos they rejected him, or could there have been more to it? From what I've seen, girls like to be able to share an experience with other girls (solidarity and all that...). Quite possibly, the "group laugh" was their reaction to being asked by "Austin" (a nice, upfront guy), in order to hide their nervousness at being asked, or their shame at turning him down. Be careful before you condemn - there's always more than one side to the story.

JMHO :)

Very true. I like it when someone points out another perspective that normally is not seen.

Maybe he's just a terrible dancer.

Seriously though, it makes you wonder what these women's motivation for taking dancing lessons were.

I say "Austin" handled it correctly, and hopefully the handsome guy they settled on dancing with stepped on their toes a whole bunch.

I was also wondering the same thing? Maybe they weren't laughing, AT your friend, per say......how old were they? You called them "ladies".....were they older than you guys?

Maybe the "ladies" felt very flattered, they were asked to dance by a younger guy, because it's never happened to them before?

It could be a MILLION different reasons they were laughing other than just your friend asking them to dance? Another reason, maybe one of them was just in the middle of a funny story or joke when they got interrupted?

Just different thoughts, thrown out there. :)

They would be 27ish by the looks of them, but I try to put myself in the ladies "high-heeled" shoes and try to think like them. If a guy like Austin asked me for a dance I would blush when I am flattered and smile - but certainly not laugh

If that was the case they would laugh BEFORE Austin would ask them for a dance

Somebody mentioned "The wedding singer". There was a scene there, that Adam saw Drew by her window all excited and it was her wedding the following day. He assumed she was excited for her wedding, but it wasn't it....

Only the girls know why they laughed, unfortunately Austin just turned his back on them when they did.

Another theory, I know for some girls, I for one when I was younger, we giggle, a group of 9 girls all in all, when some guy tries to approach one of us......

God bless!!!

How sad for "Austin"! But I give him kudos for at least asking. It takes alot of guts especially to go up to a group of girls or women or ladies or whatever......
sounds like they were laughing at him, and considering that they took anothers offer quickly afterward doesn't sound like they were being very nice.

I just have to step in and say something....

The guy was already laughed at, so why in the world would you ever wish Drew Barrymore on him? Hasn't the poor guy suffered enough?

Coach
 I love Drew Barrymore! I'm afraid we can't be friends anymore.

I have no problem if they didn't want to dance with the guy. The issue is the way in which they turned him down. From what I can see, they felt he just wasn't good enough to be worthy of their time. Pretty shallow.

And no, I am not a big Drew B-more fan. I just don't quite get the appeal. She was great in ET, though.

I completely agree that they were rude and insensitive.

The appeal, IMO, is that she comes across as an every day kind of girl. Plus, she is one of the only child star success stories that managed to survive the ill-effects that life has and prospered well into adulthood.

She was even better in Firestarter.
