i just wanted to start a thread about new (to you) music. just where you can post some band that you've just found out about (i don't care if everyone else has heard them or even you just heard the beatles for the first time). a place where you can say "hey, i just heard this band, X, and i'm really into them right now...".

i'll start. i've started getting into this band, earlimart. there is a definite elliott smith quality to them, especialy apparent in their latest album, treble & tremble. i think i like the album, everyone down here, better, but i'm really enjoying both of them right now. good stuff.

My last discovery was Buckethead, great independant guitarist. He recently joined up with bassist Les Claypool (Primus), drummer Brian "Brain" Mantia (Primus) and funk keyboardist Bernie Worell (independant) to form Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the four of them can produce. First album was released a week ago, but I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

I just discovered the Fiery Furnaces about a month ago, and I'd now say they might be the most creative musicians going today. Both of their albums don't sound like anything else out right now (or like each other), and both are as good as anything I've heard in the last 3-4 years.

2 words... death metal... i've recently discovered a lot of death metal and christian metal bands. it's awesome. in the past 2 months or so i've really got into metal as a whole. i used to just be surface metal and rock, but i've dug deep, and it's a whole lot better!

My newest discovery would probally have to be Jeremy Camp. Hes christian... and I dont like much christian music, but he's pretty cool.
Other then that, my other latest discovery would probally be Guster.

I just got a copy of the Sam Roberts cd. I like the tracks I've heard so far, but need to give it an extensive listen before I am able to soberly judge the album.
If you ever get the chance, check him out in concert. It's one of the best shows that I've ever seen. Pure rock n' roll.

i have recently discovered Thousand Foot Krutch and FM Static, and im glad i did because i love it! great music. i love having TFK pumping in my car :D
oh yeah. TFK is really good. I kind of rediscovered Pillar and Kutless...they were kind of on the back burner for a while. then I listened to them recently and really enjoyed it.

I've also discovered some old stuff...I was just into the new stuff for the longest time, now I'm really liking AC/DC, The Clash, The Ramones, Guns n roses and stuff. heheh. Dad's music and 80's music isn't so bad after all. :D
