Jonathan Elias, he's a classical musician. I ran across his CD while interning at Universal...He's def. talented. He's been composing music for film and TV for some time now, and the name of his CD is "American River." It has one of the tracks recorded by the late great Johnny Cash. A must-listen! I didn't know anything about him beforehand, and now I want to learn as much as possible about him and the genre.

Has anyone else heard of him or checked out his work?

Oh I just started getting into Elliot Smith too.... I dont have his cd yet, but I love his voice and I certainly want to pick it up

2 words... death metal... i've recently discovered a lot of death metal and christian metal bands. it's awesome. in the past 2 months or so i've really got into metal as a whole. i used to just be surface metal and rock, but i've dug deep, and it's a whole lot better!

I've just "discovered" a group on Soundclick.com called BelovedJC--they're Christian, they have a sound very much like Smalltown Poets, but their songs Lazurus and Die Into the Light are just welded into my head right now.

Other then that, my other latest discovery would probally be Guster.

Oh man, how I love the Guster. Through sheer cleverness I have acquired every album of theirs except their first one and their live one in the past three months.

Lost and Gone Forever is by far that best though (followed by Goldfly, if you ask me)

My latest discovery is an awesome band called the Legends (they're on the Wicker Park soundtrack, their second CD came out yesterday )

I got into Dimmu Borgir a few months ago. Now its all I ever listen to. I always have either "Godless Savage Garden" or "Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia" playing in my room/car. They actually sing about meaningful stuff instead of the same old.

I got into !!! (don't ask me how you're supposed to pronounce it!) just recently, their stuff is like some kind of amalgam of post-punk and funk. Thankfully those special people at epitonic.com will let you download one of the best songs from their current album here. I defy any of you to listen to it and not want to start dancing!
