  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know I know, I should not feel this way, but try as I might I cannot STAND looking at or hearing the POTUS. I am not racist. I did not vote for him, but he just gives me a sickening feeling that I cannot seem to overcome.

I am proud of America that they voted in a half black President. I would have voted for him if I thought he would be good for our country. I didn't and I still don't.

I also know that God puts these people in power, no matter if we think it is our votes that do it, God is still in control, thankfully.

I feel the same way about the VP but not as bad. And also the First Lady. Cannot stand looking at them either.

I'm not looking for agreement or bashing of our POTUS I just don't know how to overcome this. I feel sick even typing this.

Why don't you try praying for Obama, that at the times he's (hopefully) seeking God that the Lord guides and leads him. Also pray for the believers in Congress that they would not be motivated by pride but would instead seek to serve the public by working with Obama to accomplish a greater good. I'm non fan of the POTUS (I'm a registered Independent) but try to focus on the positive things he's done so far for this country. He actually chose to add the 4 words "so help me God" at the end of oath when sworn in for 2nd term, which I know teed off a lot of his base, and I praised God for his public declaration.

As you're a registered Republican, I would encourage you to maybe learn about Obama and his presidency from non-biased standpoints (as opposed to the pundits out there). Frontline on PBS's website did a great Romney/Obama documentary just prior to the 2nd election, and I understand Obama more, though I never did vote for him.

In the end, recognize that Christ will ultimately return and restore us and our earth anyway - that's what I focus on now!!

lol ... Ya, auction off the TV. grin

Have you seen the stuff that comes out of the TV?

Unfortunately when my son was young he needed some entertainment and source of information and there was no internet and no DVDs and VHS was expensive so I bought a TV.

I virtually never watched it but the wife would stay up very late watching TV because she didn't have to get up until 3 hours after I did. Eventually to avoid falling asleep on the way to work I decided to sleep separately and now I'm single.

I don't have a TV and never will allow one where I live.

It's called 'divide and conquer'. With the US public fighting each other they can be easily fleeced by the bankers and sent to war by the petroleum companies.

Also the way humans think makes this very easy because whatever your initial stance you will collect information that supports that stance and disagree and forget any that doesn't.

That tendency is described by 'cognitive bias' and I guess that includes cognitive fluency and cognitive dissonance.

I have and do pray for our POTUS, but I confess I do not do it enough. I do not listen to the pundits but what I have researched about the POTUS I find troubling to say the least and the fact that he pays alot of money to keep school records secret also is troubling. I DO know and believe that God is the one that puts whoever in power and HE and His plan will prevail, so I don't worry about that. Yes I am "registered" as a Rep. but I am not a big fan of any of the parties and I do not vote by that alone. I tried to be a Dem. and used to be registered as one, but when I looked at all the candidates (Obama's first run) I did not agree with any of them enough to support them. I don't think he's done that much for our country, so we can just agree to disagree on that but I will take your advice and try to remember to pray for all our members of Congress and the House. I really quite frankly are fed up with the whole bunch. But I really do need to take it up with God in prayer, so thanks for that reminder.
