  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I know I know, I should not feel this way, but try as I might I cannot STAND looking at or hearing the POTUS. I am not racist. I did not vote for him, but he just gives me a sickening feeling that I cannot seem to overcome.

I am proud of America that they voted in a half black President. I would have voted for him if I thought he would be good for our country. I didn't and I still don't.

I also know that God puts these people in power, no matter if we think it is our votes that do it, God is still in control, thankfully.

I feel the same way about the VP but not as bad. And also the First Lady. Cannot stand looking at them either.

I'm not looking for agreement or bashing of our POTUS I just don't know how to overcome this. I feel sick even typing this.

nah, we're not like that here. And I'm sure there are people on here that like our POTUS and that's fine. That is not the issue I am raising. That's why I said I wasn't trying to spark a debate about liking/disliking the POTUS but moreso, why do I feel this way. I thought that maybe if someone else felt like me, they could help me understand. It seems to me you are trying to make it into something else and I really don't think that is appropriate. I didn't like Jimmy Carter either and I didn't believe Bill Clinton (I did NOT sleep with THAT woman) but I didn't get ill looking at them or hearing them speak.
I avoid seeing our current POTUS as much as possible, but sometimes you just can't help it if the news comes on or whatever and that is what I'm talking about. And I've got 4 more years to go. So please quit trying to make this thread a debate thread or a troublesome one. Geez, I'm just being honest and I don't LIKE feeling this way. I don't TRY to feel this way it just IS the way I feel.

I used to be an enthusiastic Republican. I went to the state convention a few years. It wasn't about discussion and figuring out who had the policies that would be best for for Maine or America. It was only about getting a Republican elected. Then Bush jr made bad decision after decision and Republicans stood up for him.

So I'm disillusioned with both parties. Plus I don't really see much difference between the two parties. SO I can relate.

Nah, I'm not trying to be controversial. I just know people and I've lurked here for a very long time - enough so to know that people are people regardless of the type of forum in which they post.

I'll just go away from this thread as it seems my sense of humor, trying to preemptively defuse whatever may (or may not) happen, was misinterpreted.

Ciao...

I was proud to see Obama up there today and I'm glad he got re-elected. Obama's first administration ended that war and also protected us from Osama bin Laden. Loved the way he handled Sandy and Sandy Hook. I am very very proud of him.

You've been brainwashed. He "ended the war" on the exact same schedule put forth by Bush. The only thing Obama gets credit for is not derailing the end.

bin Laden was found using methods that Bush endorsed and Obama called torture. So Obama takes the information, piggybacks on the work that has been done for 9 1/2 years, and claims the victory.

You can be proud of him if you want, but not for these things.

I don't support Obama. I think Clinton, as a person, annoyed me more because of his antics and drama. I am pretty much right of center but I don't follow Grover Norquist or Ayn Rand, either. If you want to see where Obama would take the country, look at New York state. High taxes. Now the lifestyle police dictate how much soda pop you can drink. If you defend your family against a home invasion robbery and your gun has more than 7 bullets, you will go to jail. I am glad I live in a state that is not paranoid about its average citizens.

I agree with most of what everyone posted. AGAIN I did not start the thread to talk about politics. Everyone will have a side and an opinion and that is totally OK with me, no judgement here.

It's more like this......
You know how dogs can usually tell if a person is "bad" or not? Well I've had dogs anyway, that when certain people came over (like a repair man or some new friend) he could tell if the person was "good" or not and if he decided he didn't like them he would "voice" his opinion and be very protective of me........

So this has NOTHING to do with the fact that I didn't vote for the POTUS or whether I "like" him or not (I don't but that's politics I don't like MOST politicians so...) it's more of an internal siren that goes off if I see him or his wife (or cabinet for that matter) and I am really really uncomfortable.
I'm not comparing the POTUS to anyone but I would have the same feeling as seeing Charles Manson or Osama Bin Laden or Mr dinner jacket (Ahmindinejad).

Aside from avoiding seeing him at all costs as much as possible do any of you have any suggestions as how to overcome this?

AGAIN I do NOT want to talk about whether we like his policies or not. I personally think we should get rid of the whole government and start over Tyranny or Mutiny or whatever it would be but lets not talk about that either.

For those that have similar feelings as I do...what do YOU do? Same as me avoid avoid avoid? OR?

Rellly? Wow. I absolutely detest the Bushes with everything but I have never sensed GHWB or GWB with the same feeling as a serial killer. I think that is very extreme and kinda cold too. It has always been my wish that the Bushes act in a manner that is ethical especially since they were so tightly knitted with the Saudi Royal family.

Although, I will say this Michelle, I am always creeped out by the people who are invited to the white house; all the celebrities and such. Yuck. I don't blame Obama but I don't like all the Beyonce's and Kesha's at the inauguaral party. I don't have a problem with them as people because they are God's children too, but I don't like waht they represent.

The only way I know to have a different feeling towards people is to find some way to know them as a human being. I'm not sure how you do that with someone you will never meet. I've never hung out with people who have a lot of power (be it political or business, etc) so I really figure I don't know these people. I don't know anyone who is really rich either. I hear some stories thru the media that says they really don't know nor can they relate to the man on the street. I guess that goes both ways as I've only had a few tastes of real wealth even with my pretty good income. So all those people I can't relate to I put in a place were I say I don't understand them and can't walk a mile in their shoes so I guess I can't judge them. Cause I know I couldn't handle a lot of political power, or money power or fame power etc.

Well that ain't never gonna happen lol. And I am not trying to judge them. I really am not but I cannot help how I feel even though I do try. Oh well, I guess I just will keep on avoiding seeing them on TV and the internet as much as possible for the next 4 years.
