  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have found both the MISSING LINK and ABIOGENESIS!

*sigh* I miss the '60's. I think the Metal Men was a Gardner Fox creation. But it will never touch the Silver Age JLA, or the Hal Jordan Green Lantern for quality.

Norm

Green Lantern - powering up his ring said:
In brightest day, in blackest night, let those who worship evil's might, beware my power, Green Lantern's light!

I think that's the way it went.

Ah The Metal Men. Amazingly they're still around too.

But it does make an interesting point, in terms of artificial intellegence. If such organisms could be built to replicate, would it be considered Abiogenesis? For that matter, would ocmbining chemicals in a lab that developed into such replicating molecules also be abiogenesis? Or does abiogenesis refer only to development of life through natural means?

Sorry to drag your thread down (or up?) AVG. :)

Not quite, you missed the second line:

"No evil will esape my sight"

I think the following is correct, but it's been a long time, and I am willing to be corrected:

In brightest day, in darkest night
No Evil will escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power, Green Lantern's light.

Yup --- I think you're right --- good job!

My fav story is when Hal learned to activate his ring from a short distance away via mental commands, then fell asleep during a picnic, and a prison escapee got ahold of it when he left it lying on the blanket - (or picnic table).
