I have a question...

What do you think of bands that act horrible, cuss, etc and then thank God in public?

  • Christian (everyday, normal, average Christian who has faults.

  • Hypocrite (they are putting down God by the way they act/talk/sing and are giving Christianity a bad

I have a question…

What do you think of the actors/musicians/famous peeps in general, that really act bad…and then, on the awards ceremony (like CMA’s, etc.) and they say I want to thank: my Mommy, my Daddy, my producer, __(fill in the blank)___, and most of all, God? Isn’t that a BIG put down for Christianity? They are making us look bad! Do you feel the same way as I do? Just wondering…

Your Sister in Christ,

-Heather-

:wave:I'd have to say that most of their actions are not because of God, or their lives, but because of their jobs. I think that there might be some good people out there that really do believe in God and have good relationships with God, but that when it comes to the entertainment side of things, that they feel they are just doing their job...I don't agree with the way they act, but just trying to figure out if there could be a reason for it. I think it would be best if they would put their religious lives into their jobs, and turn everything toward God, but we know that it doesn't happen very often, especially in entertainment roles. They basically find themselves looking for the popularity and wanting to reach the top, that it becomes justified, that this is only their job...That's what I would assume anyways. But heaven forgive me for assuming anything....I just think that it is a slap to christians, but yet, usually there are more things happening. Just a thought for today. God Bless! :)

Don't do like the Pharisees. that's bible said."And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

I don't think a christian should cuss and then use God's name  As christians we are called to different and christ-like.What would we be saying to the world if we used foul language?

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Peter 1:14
As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

A couple of things:

1. After all, what is cussing? We have come up with all manner of interestings modifications that we use in place of the supposed "cuss word" and frankly it don't make no never mind. Now the Lord's name in vain is another matter, but "darn" "shoot" "heck" and other modifications are nothing but an effort to somehow soften the original.

2. Keep in mind that mention of God in no way, shape or form makes one a Christian. It is the one's who live a licentious lifestyle and then thank "my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" that would turn my head. A mere mention of God gets no reaction from me.

May be we could call them Christian (everyday, normal, average Christian who has faults.) But they shouldn't cuss the Lord and tell they dont believe in him and things like that every day you know. So i guess they are neither christians nor Hypocrite, just some sinful people who uses Gods name in the end like a ritual, or something. But if someone does sing anything Against God in his songs but has sins then we can consider him as a christian. :D

Hypocrites oviously. They act different ways in different places. Their actions cannot justiofy each other. You must 100% of the time live for God. Yes, we all sin. And we all do it willingly a lot. We are all hypocrites. The people you speak of are major hypocrites- they do it willingly, realzie it, and don't care it seems.

I totally agree with everyone who thinks that the artists, actors, and people in the media need to live what they say they believe. But here is something to think about. Unless the actions are perpetual and blattent don't be to quick to judge the sincerety of their beliefs. Every once in a while we need extend grace to those in the spot light and just give them the benefit of the doubt, because we all sin and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). It could be that we see the bad things of these people because the media doesn't want to report news, they want to reveal personal deep things about these people. I am speaking as a future journalist, so this is not a slam against all reporters, however, as a general assumption many journalists make their agenda more important than anything including anyone else and their reputation. Sometimes, what we see plastered on the screen may not be them, it might just be sin creeping out into the eye of the public. On the other hand, if the sin is a life-style than it might be fair to say that they don't believe the same way that you and I do. That kind of informaiton is only good for one thing though. If we feel that by one's actions they're probably not saved then we know to pray for them. If we judge their actions to simply be critical, then we are no better than the hypocrate that they are.

I can't stand it! It drives me insane! Everytime I see somebody on tv do that, I cringe, and then go look up more info on them and see who they really are. Another thing _ about country music_ why do they talk about beer and Jesus in the same song and stuff? What do ya'll think about that?

I am learning to be less judgmental. I really can't answer that question, because I don't know what that person's heart is really like. If they have a relationship with God, they shouldn't be doing that type of stuff, but maybe they don't know that it's wrong. I'm not going to call them hypocrites though, because I don't know them personallly. I've also learned that a lot of actors/actresses see their acting as a job, not a true reflection of themself.

I voted ordinary, sinful people. We do not know what is in their heart. If we are going to judge someone else, we have to look at ourselves and see if 100% of our actions are Christian. Let those who are without sin cast the first stone. Whether they are sincere in thanking God, it's not our business but HIS.
