2 Chr 36:9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

2 king 24:8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.

How do you explain the 10 year difference, I am a bit comfused....

Also luke 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

What does he mean by hate?

Thanks for your help...

the ''8'' seems to be a simple copyist error.

The Luke passage is merely showing how mouch MORE we need to love Christ over all else.

If it is a copyest error why not correct it?

Good question. Maybe it depends on the Bible version you have.

ALso that would meen that the Bible is NOT infaillable...

No, that means the Bible TRANSLATIONS are not infallible. We acknowledge that the original manuscripts were infallible, not the copies or the translations.

How many more of these kind of errors are there?

Probably quite a few, since the Bible is a huge book and a few years ago there was no such thing as MS Word (oh happy days - lol!)

However, are they enough to jeopardize the fact that the manuscripts we have are pretty faithful to the original? No.
Are there any translation problems that change the core set of beliefs in Messiah, G-d, salvation, etc? No.

Therefore, it is something interesting to research and investigate, but not worth losing your sleep over it.

In Mashiach,

It is the word hate that bothers me....
I agree with you Azad, why haven't they, that came before us, corrected the errors that they have found? Great question that only the dead could answer and of course YHWH and Yahshua knows already. Yet remember Yahshua doesn't know the TIME OF His RETURN, ONLY YHWH Knows.

How about this infallibility:

Why even in the Jewish Sector that YHWH's name is replaced when spoken, i.e., Hashem and when reading from Torah they replace with Adoni. Which crossed over into Christianity as well by replacing HIS TRUE NAME: YHWH with God and/or LORD. The total I think is 2878, I can't remember the number right off, that YHWH's name has been replaced within the Tanakh and B'rit Khadashah(Only like 100 times)
So when you take a book someone else authored and replace every instance of the Authors name with your own, what do you think the Author would think and probably do to you.
And YHWH is the Author of LIFE itself which is instilled with all. So I have a problem with more then some verses. This is the Most Important part of knowing Who we are to PROCLAIM to the WORLD of LAWLESS LOST PEOPLE. And No wonder the Jewish sector doesn't want anything with Yahshua, since they don't recognize Jesus at all within the name of YHWH, for only YHWH can Save. And since YHWH appointed Yahshua as HIS CHIEF CORNERSTONE and RIGHT HAND, Yahshua has the AUTHORITY over ALL that YHWH has Created. And therefore is our KING of Kings, Prince of Peace. Then He, Yahshua will hand over all He has conquered to YHWH as my signature quotes.

Shalom,

This is an old saw thown out by anti Chrisian / Anti Zionists. There are a few very minor discrepencies between 1 / 2 Kings and 1 / 2 Chronicles basically having to do with specific numbers. Now that fact that these are the same account of events as written by different people in different tribes Isreal and Judah is enough to explain these minor mis matches.

The question is does this change the moral effect of the account? The answer is always no. Whether Jehoiachin was 8 or 18 when he began his reign is of no importance at all what is important was that under his rule he did evil in the eyes of the Lord. And that later there would be chastisement for that evil.

And as far as Luke 14:26 is concerned perhaps the way the same statement is phrased in Matthew shows the correct light

Mat 10:37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

I honor my father to be sure but he is in no way above my Lord.

Blessings
