You don't need counseling, you need to understand why we go through tough times. You know, physically speaking, when we desire to gain muscle and endurance, what do we do? We work out right? But it isn't just lifting or running, if we REALLY want to grow physically we take ourselves to the point of exhaustion and then put a little more time in. We stretch ourselves and in the process we grow stronger and faster and have more endurance. Well... it is the same in the spirit. The only difference is we are not choosing the track, the amount of weight, or the machine to work out on, God is. And what He does is allow pain sometimes, or trauma, and this pain we feel "inside" stretches us in the SPIRIT... it causes us to grow in the spirit and through those experiences, we become better witnesses and more useful to more people. I would think that God is preparing you for something special and, if you let Him... He might just use you for a great thing. He can handle you being mad at Him, in fact it might even be a good thing that you can direct yourself to Him in that manner. But take these things into consideration... it might simply be that He is making you ready for something that will have an impact. I am not prophesying... I am saying this is a possibility.

No, because of understanding the true purpose of trauma and devastating events. No pain, no gain. Give me that fire. Everything is spiritual resistance training. It'll all be over soon, and we'll all have peace and joy. No more resistance training. That means all of our strength will come from this current time. Resistance builds stronger faith, hope, love, patience, endurance, wisdom, experience, understanding - all of the good stuff. The harder the press; the stronger the gain. The backward mind thinks easy is good, and hard is bad; but the reality is the opposite. A life of ease here is really like a curse: you're fat and weak, sitting on the couch eating Cheesy Poofs. People who have an easy life are going to come out on the other side with me standing there laughing "Look here at de puny girly man. So veak. Here, let me help you to stand up on your puny little girly legs. And not like big girly legs, but like little baby legs. Ya, little baby girly legs. So veak and helpless." Is that what you want?

Im talking about feelings. Love is an action word and I obey Him. I have studied the bible articulately for 12 years and I know it well.I just I went through a horrible truama that I prefer not to speak about.

If I helped great... one suggestion... come up with a better name for the support group. The word cult has morphed from a small group with a controlling leader to any group who doesn't believe like us. Some still use the old definition, others lean toward the newer form... I would suggest just avoiding the word. And... if you are feeling led to do this, then perhaps that is why you endured some of the things you did. Perhaps you will make an impact in the life (or lives) of others in ways you can't even imagine. Whatever happens, God bless! :)

Amen! So many people have used their pain to help others who are going through similar things.

I have hated God before and even lashed out at Him. I lived a hard life as a person on the autism spectrum living in a small redneck city miles from civilization that is plagued by drugs, alcoholism and crime. It's natural to blame the person in charge because theoretically he's suppose to be the one controlling everything.

This question pops up quite often, "If God is good, why does he let innocent people suffer?" And you know what my answer is? Because people are a-holes. God's got nothing to do with it. He gave us free will to see how this world would turn out if we tried running things our own way without Him. Just from looking at the world, you can see we do a very poor job of it.

My advice is to keep in mind that life is only temporary and once we are in Heaven, we won't suffer anymore. We will finally live life as God originally intended and find that His will, not the world's, is indeed the best course of action.

God's heart is broken that you suffer. So much that He plans to compensate you for every tear you shed.
"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." ~Psalm 56:8

Do you suffer from being single?
"For this is what the Lord says: To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose what pleases me and hold fast to my covenant— to them I will give within my temple and its walls a memorial and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that will endure forever." ~Isaiah 56:4-5

Do you suffer from illness?
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;" ~2 Corinthians 4:17

Do you suffer because people treat you like garbage?
"God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you" ~2 Thessalonians 1:6

Do you suffer because life is unfair?
"this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Take off the turban, remove the crown. It will not be as it was: The lowly will be exalted and the exalted will be brought low." ~Ezekiel 21:26

"But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first." ~ Matthew 19:30

There are many other examples. The more you suffer, the more God is near you. It may feel that He has favorites but the truth is that He plans to correct every wrong ever done and that you, my friend, is why you shouldn't be angry at Him, instead you should rejoice knowing that you will be more than compensated for it in the next life. I admit, I still get angry at Him too sometimes but we are only human. He alone truly understands our plight and knows what we are capable of.

I hope this helps.

I care about autistic people. I have special ed teacher(s) in my family, a blind grandchild, and two autistic grandchildren. You have special challenges and special gifts! I love watching Body Bizarre. People amaze me when they keep trying to meet challenges that some of us will never have to face! My mother's so old she never heard of autism until us younger ones told her about it.

Im actually calling it (insert name of my city) Cult Freedom. And I'm teaming up with other support group members for trianing on how to lead a support group.
I like it but still am leery about the use of "cult." I want no details, ok? But lets say this was a Baptist church. Are the Baptists a cult? No... did a Baptist pastor abuse you? Yes... does that make it a cult or make him a jerk? :) Insert any denomination, even non-denomination... if the governing group is not widely considered a cult, then what you have is a presumptuous pastor who lacks understanding when it comes to personal boundaries. I live in Kentucky and the next town over is Lexington... so I will use their name so we have one for an example that doesn't give away where you are. What is wrong with "Lexington Freedom Support Group?"

Just some thoughts... if this was truly a cult... Heavens Gate, Jim Jones... then use "cult." Otherwise, at least pray about it sis.

I see what you're saying, but just focusing on those verses alone can seem like ignoring the more questionable and violent parts of the Old Testament.

I have been to a similar experience but not from a pastor but from a homosexual.

I've often been the target of these things in a patriarchal society. I don't hate God. But I hate my life most definitely.

Anyway, I don't think much about it anymore. I have way bigger problems now like finding a job. My trauma is more about the helplessness I feel in my situation now.

The Biblical teaching is you may hate what people do but not hate the people; this may apply to God also. I have stood toe to toe with God and asked what He thought He was doing and the only reply I got was a smile.
