The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And they say that God knew us before we were born, and yet at least I was born into a family that beat me more days than not. Into a church where reporting embezzlement got me ostracized, despite being right. I hear your pain. How can an all loving, all knowing God, leave his beloved creations in this mess?
I gave up trying to find an answer to that a long time ago, but it still hurts. I'm just a human being and I strive every day against the forces arrayed against me and at the end of the day I'm lucky to come home alone and cold.
I know God exists, though I wish at times it weren't true. I know that human beings are flawed, that in the land of the blind the one eyed man is beaten to death with his own arm. They say that God never puts you to a task beyond you're ability to withstand, but I gotta say "Um really?" I've spent the last several months getting lightning bolts to the head, enough tranquilizers to kill a rhinoceros, and I'm still begging for the morning to never come.
Dude I get it. But the thing about it is God doesn't care and never did. I gotta believe that because the alternative is that God wanted me to be abused as a child, to be scarred and raped and burnt and flogged and ruined, and if that's the God everyone talks about then I'm truly hopeless, because not even death will bring relief.
