• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I had some really evil thoughts again, and some confusing thoughts

Yesterday I had some really bad thoughts about the Holy Spirit and I also had this thought "I'd rather go to hell than stop loving God", which I then kind of recanted and then again affirmed because I am not sure what to do with that thought. Obviously I never want to stop loving God but I also never want to go to hell. Now God is quiet and I haven't really felt much of the Holy Spirit since I had all these bad thoughts.

I would appreciated prayers and some support. Do you think God will forgive me?

Yes, He will forgive you. Intrusive thoughts are not truly your own. I have them, too.

Honestly, refraining from sugar, distracting websites, and angry or rebellious music has helped reduce how often I have this problem.

Those are thoughts, we all think things, and as far as being blaphemous goes, in my view, it has to be spoken, and even then, others have to be around to hear it for it to be a problem.

It's the harm those things cause that is the problem, and if no one hears it, no harm done. And that's not to say we should feel free to think that way either...do try what was suggested to kee even the thoughts to a minimum.

I generally ignore myself these days when that happens to me. I mean as sure as we think we should not think something, something often goes haywire and we think it more than ever because our mind is now on thst thing.

Maybe we should not think about thinking things that are wrong.

Just a thought. :)

"I'd rather go to hell than stop loving God" is kind of like an oxymoron. In a way it sounds favorable if meant you love God so much you would accept hell to continue that love. Where you can wipe this thought out though is the scripture that contains "nothing will separate us from the love of God." So since you love God and nothing can separate you from His love, you not only do not need to worry about hell, but you are in the arms of God.

You've got nothing to fear. Bad thoughts come and most people can let go of them but with OCD the thoughts get stuck. God knows you don't mean it. There are so many reasons why you don't need to be afraid. I've thought bad things, said bad things, heard bad things and I've been like you. I've been so terrified that I actually saw darkness. I realized that Jesus paid the price for me. The Bible sometimes mentions debts being forgiven like no longer having to make payments on a loan. Even if by some rare chance you did something unforgivable you've already paid the debt by how tormented you are with this fear. The Bible doesn't say that if you commit the unforgivable you will go to Hell. It says you are in danger of or just subject to eternal condemnation. God is love. He wouldn't hurt you. If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, you are saved, period, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Eternal condemnation is the second death, the lake of fire.

Hey. You have nothing to worry about!!!! The only reason I even mentioned that is to show you that it doesn't say that the person who commits the unforgivable sin will have eternal condemnation but it says the person is in danger of or subject to it. Once you believe that Jesus is the Son of God you are saved! The person who commits that sin and does not believe in Jesus is in danger of or possibly subject to eternal condemnation.
