  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I give up!

Michelle,
I think you are right. I was talk on the phone with "L" last night. I have almost nothing bad to say about my EXs wife of girlfriend. I was saying when an event with one of my past relationships is a good illustration I feel its an honor I give to my EXs to mention them. I also mentioned to L that she could speak of her EXs as well and it wouldn't bother me. To which she replied her relationships weren't like that and she would tell me some time. I say when your ready.
So it sounds like she has some hurt, nature of which I don't know.

But I am hearing more about this type of thing. Even if people get past it and have a good relationship the hurt isn't getting healed. Its just buried it seems. Divorce Care I saw more of that. Sweet people who have a hurt why down deep. Women are obvious, because so many have had drunks, men the blow their paycheck, who don't give or give very little emotional support, etc.

But one group I know of, are teaching that men are very hurt because of the sexual denial they have experienced in life. I'm just starting to understand this. I'm starting to see it in posts now, where I didn't understand it at all in the past. The sad part is that these deep pains, traumas we each have can form a circle of denial that just keeps the pain going. Sadly, that was one aspect of my marriage and my marriage wasn't any where near as bad the stories I read and hear about.

I know for me my problem was myself really. I kept wanting love and searching endlessly. To the point of my christianity almost become a "side" thing I would do. After years of failed attempts and anger I finally was told I had to let love go out of my head. Do no searching, do not think about love, don't even talk about it. Live life for God as if the thought of being someone didn't matter. Then God would provide since I stopped trying to control things.

And at least in my case it turned out to be true. Aside from that I have no real magical answer or feel better quote honestly. And in the end, there is always that possibility that we my not find someone. Not because we were meant to be single but because maybe that person(s) we were suppose to meet doesn't fit into Gods current plan anymore. Kinda sucks really because I know being called to be single is rarely the case, so I know deep down most people are meant to find someone at some point.

Hey exit.....are you reading this?:D:hug:

But you are speaking the truth and all people really want is to be loved by someone. Everybody wants that whether they want to admit it or not.

Yes,I read it.:)

Right now, believe it or not, I am not persuing anyone. For the next 11 days,my psyche is on the 49ers and the Super Bowl. Sports are one area of my life in which I have been and feel very, very, blessed.

One company, for a 3 night hotel package in New Orleans, wants to charge me $3,000 extra because I am single!!! How unfair is that? We singles already have to pay higher taxes than married folks. Not everyone on this planet is part of a couple. There are single people in this world!! Okay, that is enough ranting for tonight.

Well, when life gives you lemons, just make lemonade. I booked a package that just had a game ticket and round trip air fare for the game day only, which I done in 1982. The cost back then was only $500.00 for the same day RT air fare. The ticket cost then was only $40.00. Now,the face value of the ticket is the same amount of my monthly gross salary when I was in the Navy in 1978.

After the game is over on 2/3/13,I can turn my thoughts to my Easter Production rehearsals. I will be playing the High Priest Caiaphus,a friend of Pontious Pilate. I just love playing the villian!! Also,C...,the woman who lied to me earlier, will be in the production.also. Well, I will just keep our relationship, during the Easter Production,on a strictly professional level only.

Last Saturday,I cleaned up my apartment, and invited some of my church friends over for a Championship Game Party on Sunday. We are all 49ers fans and we had a great time. Therefore, last weekend,I did not have any time to go looking for some woman to bring home for my company.

I have to go now. Tuesday nights are my support group nights.

You are not getting charged extra for being single...they just advertise the rates for double...with each person paying half of the normal cost of a room/package. The room rate in the end is the same...regardless if one person or 2 people are staying in it.

The price of the package, round trip air, game ticket, transportation, and 3 nights hotel,is $4,200 per person double occupancy, for a total price of $8,400.
The price for a single person is $7,500 dollars.

The price of a room can't be discounted because only one butt is in the bed instead of two....so the price of the room total is the same regardless of the number of people in the room. The various is that you only need one plane ticket and one game ticket...

So it is 2 plane tickets, 2 game tickets, and one transportation (taxi or bus costs the same regardless of how many butts are in it) and ONE room for 3 nights...verses 1 plane ticket, 1 plane ticket, transportation, and ONE room for 3 nights. ... so I repeat...you did not get penalized $3000 for being single... (You are still using the entire room.)

If you wanted two rooms...I bet the cost would be $15,000. The lower price per person is because they are sharing some things. It is not that you pay more for being single.

Most hotels and resorts charge by room, with a limited number of people per room. Most tours have a single suppliment, which charges a single person from 150% to 200% of the double occupancy cost.

The following is the cost of the "Baby Boomers" Cruise that I will book. It is in November. The cost for a shared inside cabin, for 9 days,is $837.72. Per person, with an assigned cabin mate.I will not be shareing a cabin this time. Therefore,my cost will be $1,556.72 or 186% of the shared price.
Therefore,if I have a cabin all to myself,I will be paying more, hench my point of paying a "single's penalty".

exit you need to change your thinking..

first off in your first post the difference was 900.00 not 3,000.00 and the Baby Boomer's cruise is because you want a room all to yourself (which I understand because I would too) and if you add the two costs of sharing a cabin it comes out to 1675.44 for the cabin vs. you paying 1556.72.

I did not write anything about $900.00. The Super Bowl Package Single Supplement was $3,000. You are right about the cabin. Yes,it is not 200% of the double occ. cost, which is usually the case. But it was 186% of the cost. I thought I was clear. You see? Michelle and Blackribbon are living proof that women do not understand me. Why ,oh why is it so freaking hard to get my point accross to them? It is as if I am that character from the movie,"The Brother From Another Planet".

Does not my many travel experiences account for anything? Why am I being treated as if I am the village idiot who does not know what he is talking about??

Granted,I may sound defensive. But,......if I do not defend myself.......who will?

Exit. This is simple math. It isn't about "understanding" you. Package X costs so much. You can divide it between two people and each pay x/2. OR you can pay X and get the whole thing to yourself. In the case of the cruise, you can pay x-minus a small discount and not have to share, so the single person is actually getting the better "deal". He gets more for less.

However, you are listening to the salesman hype where they divide it between two people to make it sound like a bargain. (Most people taking these packages are married so the bigger number is coming out of the same bankaccount anyway.)

I understand about the married couples. What I do not understand is,if these cabins are for couples, why are there always two single beds in most of the cabins?

Well,at least these four single women agreed with me!

That is not fair

I buy a banana for 50 cents. You buy a banana for 50 cents. I share it with my best friend. You eat a whole banana. My friend gives me half the cost of the banana...so 25 cents. You cry "no fair, your banana only cost 25 cents and mine cost 50 cents". I say "fair...because I only got half of a banana for that 25 cents."

FYI: My grandparents had two twin beds in their room...and 6 kids down the hall. I rent a hotel room with a friend and have to sleep in the same bed with her in order to get the "single" price ....two twin beds is not an option. I'm guessing you won't get a twin bed (or even two twin beds) in that Superbowl package. It will be one big bed (or maybe even two big beds).

Yooooohooooo exit? HERE is where I got the $900.00. The price for the game package is 8400.00 for two people and 7500.00 for one. Are you following me? 8400.00 minus 7500.00 is a 900.00 difference. You ARE getting the room to yourself right?

and in THIS situation, you are paying because you want the room to yourself! They actually get more per room if you share so for the room you are actually paying 108.72 less than the total of the two people that share a room. I say that is the price you pay for privacy. I don't agree that it is 150 to 200% difference.

I was getting the room all to myself. But $8400 divided by 2 is still $4,200 per person. If I was splitting the cost with someone, for two people,it would cost me $4,200 instead of $7,500,resulting in a $3,200 savings.

If you were married, that same room/package would cost $8400. Seems to me at $7500, that the single person is the one that gets the discount. Now if you are willing to share it with another single person, then you get a larger discount.

Twist it anyway you want, but you are comparing buying a whole banana to someone who is only buying half a banana.
