• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is the beginning of the school year and everybody is just adjusting like you are to the different teachers. I would maybe suggest getting involved in something you would like to do in school, and you would probably make friends that way, and also look forward to going more.

What are your teachers like?

I would also suggest talking to the school counselor who could help you adapt more readily. It's not so easy a new year at school, but with support and help it can be better.

Take care, Tapero

Hi Kathleen,

What is it about school that makes you feel down? Do you know?

Thanks for writing, take care, Tapero

Dear Kath, I'm sorry the teachers are mean. It's kind of the same as it will be in life. Mean supervisors sometimes and we have to learn to cope with those situations.

I think that's great that you do cheerleading! I can see how that can be stressful too. Do you enjoy doing it?

I am so glad you are going to the school psychologist. It does take time to work through things so be patient there.

You are so nice. I really appreciate you writing each time.

Take care, Tapero

Thank you Kath. You made me feel good.

How long have you been doing cheerleading? Is the coach a tough person, or is he or she an encouraging person?

tapero

ive been cheering for 5 years. my coach is really nice but i always feel like i have to be better than everyone else on the team and i feel as if i cant make any mistakes.

Wow! Five years, you must be very good at it. I know cheerleading is a lot of pressure. You probably don't make many mistakes, but it would be good if you could tell yourself that it's okay if you do make a mistake.

That would relieve some of the pressure.

There's an anxiety forum here on Recovery that might help you too. There's a lot of support there as well as here in depression. Just thought I would tell you about it.

I get anxiety over things I can't control and so sometimes I post in there and it helps me a lot.

Well, God bless, tapero:hug:
