At this point it's evident to me that my words on inspiration are out of season for some.

I thought that I might be able to help people to better understand the nature of inspiration as God has recently disclosed it to me; but it seems that I'm just discouraging people.

I did not intend to do this. I don't want to be a stumbling block for others who are not ready to hear this message. So I am going to request that my threads be deleted.

At this point in my walk with God I believe that the Lord has shown me that a prophet can still have an opinion, and could even make a mistake in assuming that something is of God when it really isn't. Prophets are not infallible.

With that said, I will not discuss this further, but just simply keep it to myself. I will say this however, this knowledge has helped me to accept that Ellen White could have had the gift of prophecy, even though she did err on certain points of interpretation.

I just hope that the Lord will forgive me for speaking too hastily about these things. I should have waited on Him before posting these thoughts about inspiration. I hope that I didn't hurt the faith of anyone.

If we look at the Bible we see that at times some of the prophets made mistakes about even what thjey claim to have come from the Lord.

Nathan the prophet told King David to go ahead and build the temple and then said that the lord was with him.

When the Lord did communicate with Nathan, Nathan had to go back and tell the King a different story.

So we do see that prophets at times have made mistakes.

I do not think we need to even document here the mistakes that prophets have made in the way that they have lived their own lives.

Just go ahead and read the Old Testament and we can see mistake after mistake in many of their own lives.

In fact we would be hard pressed to find very many that have no record of wrong recorded about them.

Daniel and Joseph are two such prophets, there may be others as well but right now they do not come to mind.

Even the great prophet Elijah suffered depression and discouragement and he ended up being translated.

I do not think we really understand inspiration as much as we think we do.

EGW is no real problem for me. Probably because I grew up seeing the direct results of nearly 10 years of her life when she lived in Australia.

The way Avondale College and the story behind that place comes about mainly because of the revelations that God gave EGW and then much of it was followed.

The place may not be the same today as it was back then. But still we do see the hand of God in it. The Health Food work that was set up, again with help from EGW has stood the test of time.

The conflict that you have brought up to a large degree is now being addressed by the Adventist Church through
the work of Dr Graeme Bradford.

Some do not like his book while others do. I have not read it all but from what I have it seems to be balanced and provide us with some good information. Dr Sam B. has promoted Bradford's books and reviews can be seen by going to Dr Sam B's site.

Woob...I believe EGW had the gift of prophecy, but I would not go as far and say she was a prophet as those in the bible.

But you do sound as if you believe you have the gift aswell because you are now speaking in this terms

The Bible says that we will know them by their fruit. When we look at the fruit of Sister White we can see a great deal of good has come from her writings. Was she perfect in all of what she said? Obviously not, but when you read her work and let the Holy Spirit convict you it's also obvious to me that God's spirit was upon this woman.

That is just my opinion.

God Bless

P.S. Woobadooba, Just know that if something is bothering you it may be bothering someone else. Don't be afraid to speak your mind as long as you are honestly seeking the truth of the matter.
