  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't seem to get it. I remember last week (after I recommited myself to Christ) I prayed to the Lord that he would guide me through my day at work, give me patience ect. That day I came in and found out my boss was writing up every last one of us for a poor job done by only a couple of folks (3 write ups, and I could lose my job) so I was getting in trouble for something I had no part of. That very day my first customer was a very rude snobby person. Fast forward to this week. I'm still praying for guidance and patience. Our vans transmission blew while my mom was on the highway (after we already spent several thousand dollars getting some unrelated problem fixed) we are trying to help my brother pay a credit card bill (which suddenly increased in ammount for seemingly no reason...nearly one grand) so now we have to get a new vehicle..pumping money into this van is not a benefit, but turns out we don't have enough money to even put a down payment on a new vehicle....also today in the middle of all this, our dryer decided to hit the great beyond...suddenly we have all these financial problems we have to deal with..and we already struggle to make it WITHOUT these problems.

Prayer has brought me troubles so far.
I'm sorry for all your troubles, Searching. Here's one bit of advice: NEVER PRAY FOR PATIENCE....because He'll give you circumstances in which to learn to be patient. :sorry: :D :sorry: ... unless you're prepared to start learning patience through the difficult opportunities to do so. I learned that a couple years back.

Comm'n you guys make it like He will ever gives us more we can "carry"? .... I think whatever we pray He considers but He always give us what we can handle... I pray for His will not gifts no freebies...not for cutting corners.. I think He listens to our daily woes and He determines what is good for us... But ...are we being "impatient" by asking for patience? I think he will teach us Humility so that we can aquire the patience ....first. I have learnt that Humility is the base for all our 'asking'. After we know how to become "humbled" in the eyes of our fellow man and God then we start to realize that things do follow HIS TIME not ours HIS WAY not ours and HIS WILL not ours ;)
In good time the Lord will bring us to what He thinks is better for us NOT US ;)

Hope it made sense....doh.... I am tire from Christmas shoping ...
Have a blessed Christmas season y'all :)

:) I prayed for patience again today lol...hey, what can I say? its an important thing. Today I finally got written up, had a 8 hour shift where there was just about no one to wait on (because the store was dead) and then my brother was at his girl friends house, so I got to walk home in my t-shirt when the sky was dropping freezing rain :D hahaha.

Well, it seems you were prepared for what was to come, though, so watch you grow in patience. :D

no I don't think it's that, but I think that often we feel like He tests us more than we think we can handle, when we can really handle much more. sorta like when you run, you get that nasty side stitch, and you think you gotta stop, but eventually it passes and you move on.

I think it is more that when we pray for patience or humility the first thing we need to learn is that we are incapable of having either under our own power. Or perhaps it is that when we pray for a certain virtue we need to first be disabused of the notion that we already have it....

Life gives us plenty of opportunity to learn patience and humility without seeking it out, I think.
