a few times recently (about three), i think God spoke to me nearly audibly. it was wierd. my boyfriend is a christian but he is very "practical".... he thinks this sort of thing is a temporary audible hallucination; or hearing another noise in the room and turning it into that. when it happened i wasn't looking for it. i was singing and playing music. it said my "real" name not javan. once it scared (caught me by surprise) me so much that my heart was racing like crazy.

please tell me what you think it was. does God do that? and why? especially since some people might not understand christians saying that.

Yes, God may have called your name. Many people have said they heard God call them and He talk to them in the Bible.

Not knowing anything about your beliefs or faith it would not be practical for me to give advice.

Maybe you could tell us more about you and your faith.
Are you saved. Are you searching for God? You can send me a private message if I can be of anymore help to you.

The same thing has happened to me on several occasions. I just answer back, Yes Lord.........and wait on His instructions. Sometimes I have to wait awhile and other times I don't. The Holy Spirit is trying to get your attention. Go into prayer and wait on your instructions.

God Bless

To belead by the spirit is to accept guidance, but to hear from God is a special case in which God wants to direct your attention. Be mindful of your thoughts and your behavior, as these things can keep you away from what spiritually matters. Stay in the word and pray, but not because you have heard your name called, but this is where you belong.

every time He called my name, i was singing and dancing to music i was playing. perhaps there is a corrolation? the one time it made my heart race the voice was so loud i thought a man had walked through my door and was talking to me. so there was additional fear because i thought someone had broken into my home, and a man (since men are stronger than women).

does God want me to do something with music?

Hey Javan,

The word of God is true and let everyman be found a lier.

The word of God plainly teaches us that God speaks to His own. How about this scripture;

"My sheep hear My voice"

This is what being a Christian is all about. Hearing God's voice so we can truly come to know Him. Reading the Bibe is where we learn about God. listening to God speak to us through a dream, a vision, a prophetic word or many different other ways is the way we come to know Him personaly. There is a big difference don't you think?

Advice: Go and buy a hard cover journal and get ready for the next time God will speak to you and then write what He says down. Watch what happens when you do! Many times God will speak to you while your writing what He has said, He often will come and give you the more. Show God how much you value Him speaking to you by writing down what He says everytime without fail.

Remember, The prophet Samuel heard God's voice three times before he understood that it was God speaking.

God is calling you, He wants to speak to you in the night season. If you want to answer His call you are going to have to want this one thing more then anything in the whole world and I really mean it.

What-will-you-do?

We just so happen to have a website where the focus is on coming to truly know the Master by learning to hear His voice.
Come and get the more, visit us at;

PS. What did God say to you? Email us if you like.

Your servants in the Lord,
Eliyahoo/Sharon

"This is my beloved Son, and I am fully pleased with him. Listen to him." The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground. Jesus came over and touched them. "Get up," he said, "dont be afraid." (Matt. 17:5-9)

"Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?"
"Who are you, sir?" Saul asked.
And the voice replied, "I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what to do."
The men with Saul stood speechless with surprise, for they heard the sound of someone's voice, but they saw no one! (Acts 9:3-7)

Someone also mentioned Samuel, a very good example, especially since he was so young, I think that is awesome. It is in Samuel 3:2-18 (this one is neat cuz it happens in the Tabernacle next to the ark of the covenant. Isnt that neat, Samuel got to sleep next to the voice of God, in God's tent!)

Just some scriptures for you.

I know many people try to say it is in the mind and all those chemicals. What a bunch of whooey! We hear the voice of God, because we belong to him. Goes great with the- I didnt choose him he chose me scripture, from the gospel of John.

I have heard him audibly a couple of times. The first time was when he told me he loved me no matter what. And another time, he called my name. For that one, I did a Samuel, got up and went in to my mom and asked what she wanted, lol. But it wasnt her, it was God speaking to me! (He just did it in a way like I am called by everyone in my house to go and do something for them, lol. By name.).

So you are not alone. You are not nuts. There really is a God, and he knows who you are. Whether people accept it or not, he does still speak.

God Bless

yes God is speaking to you and is giving you a message. Rev.15:2-4 And i saw as it was a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God and they sing the song of Moses the servent of God, and the song of the Lamb.
taht message is clear prepare to sing, Christ is returning.

I have heard Him audible like that once. I KNOW it was Him though. I often wish to hear Him like that again.

Sounded to me (let me see if your experience is the same) like a younger middle-age man. (I don't know how else to put that) somewhere 34-40 years old. And with a great deal of love/compassion for me. Very caring, but firm in what He said.

And it was only 3 words.

There's no doubt in my mind that God speaks audibly.I have heard him.I was not yet a Christian, but I was close.I'd foolishly decided to grow some opium poppies to see if they would work.Having found out they did,I had developed a low grade addiction. One day while driving my truck and listening to some talk radio drivel.A voice broke in,clear as a bell.It said"it started out an experiment. It will become an addiction".I too was shocked.Nothing on the program about either experiments or addiction.I even changed the channel to see if I could find it.On some level I just knew it was Gods voice.I threw it all away as a result.Months later, on the day I was going to be baptised,a woman who had just joined the church, gave me a card.It was to congratulate me on being baptised. On the back she wrote.Best wishes, congratulations on your baptising. Also she quoted Psalm 145:18.On the front of the card was a picture of a poppie field!Bear in mind that I'd never said anything about my poppie experiment to anyone in church.I took that as a sign that God had indeed spoken to me,and he gave me proof that I could touch.I still have the card.I still remember his voice and how he delivered me,with a warning.
