• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Welcome, Let me give you a :groupray: first.

Jesus, son of God, I come to you in Prayer. I pray that you be with this sister in Christ that you lift her up. That you bring her a peace that surpasses all understanding. Let her find a doctor that works well with her. I thank you Jesus for all that you have done and all that you are going to do.
Amen

Hey there! I can't express how much I feel for you, both my father and step mother suffer from various degrees of depression. My step mum Sue crashed recently after having to leave her job. I spent last weekend at Dad's house with her just keeping her company and giving plenty of hugs when she was feeling low(er). One thing that happened really changed her, and I think it might help you too. We went shopping. Just down to the local super market, which I understand can be quite a task after you've 'crashed' but managing to do even a little thing like that gave her confidence a massive boost. So, here's a little advice you might want to consider until you're feeling yourself again (which you will!)

+ Find some friends nearby and try to spend time with them (part of what made Sue unhappy was her loneliness while Dad was at work)

+Exercise, while it may seem really difficult while you're low is proven to have a positive effect on your mood (endomorphines and all that jazz), even a quick jog or walk in the park (with friends maybe? ; ) ) could make a difference

I can't think of anything else right now, but keep trying to find a councillor in the area who can give you proper advice and help.

Just remember, no matter how tough it feels you will get better! : D

Hi there and welcome.

Gosh that is the worst crashing when you don't have a doctor or a therapist in place.

I am praying that you will find the right ones to help you thorough this. Do not hesitate to ask for help if you need someone to help you find these individuals. I know that I can't always look for new doc's or therapists when I'm crashed I need help doing so. Do you belong to a church...maybe someone there can give you a referral to someone they know? Just a thought.

Welcome again.

If you are bipolar, then you must find meds, now. There are many clinics that you can go to that offer free medication if you don't have insurance available. Without medication, being bipolar is extremely difficult to deal with. I will keep you in my prayers, but finding medication should be one of your biggest priorities.

Welcome to the group. There are a lot of good people here who will be able to relate and give you good advice. Like some of the others advised you, I too recommend getting on meds asap. I know it sucks being on meds long term but it is amazing how much they help. I still have highs and lows but not to the extremes like I was having before meds. Just remember bp is a chemical imbalance and without meds that imbalance is not being address.

If you are having finicial trouble and feel you cannot afford meds or therapy there are places you can check for resources. Like your county health department or even catholic outreaches. These places usually have a list of places that can help you with state funded programs, to get the help you need. Another place to check is the behavioral medicene ward of your local hospital.
