• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I was wondering why I believe everything so quickly. Like for example, I’ve just found out that Christmas has a heathen origin and I’ve research it. Immediatly I felt it was true and therefore it was bad to celebrate christmas. I’ve told it to my husband and he got angry and defended christmas.

I must also tell I have OCD,anxiety and am pretty sensitive as a person. Does that might have anything to do with it?

It's not uncommon to be tossed about with every wind of doctrine, something that we all struggle with. I'm not big on celebrating Christmas, but it does bring a little joy to my wife in the cold winter months. What the Lord showed me is this: whether you celebrate it or not, do it as unto the Lord. You don't want to let it divide you. If your husband enjoys it, you might consider keeping the tradition just to please him.

Christmas is a day Christians have chosen to celebrate the birth of Christ. It’s a spiritual, celebratory season, and it can be celebrated in a way that honors the Lord. Don’t let Pharisees keep you from celebrating the nativity and Christ’s birth.

I can’t tell you why you believe things quickly, but I can tell you that the book of James tells us that if we ask the Lord for wisdom he will give it to us abundantly. So that’s good news! Ask and you will receive this wisdom. :)

Maybe you can modulate your response. You can eliminate the pagan aspects of Christmas celebration but keep the true aspects of it. I remember walking in a mall, in wonderment that the Gospel was being played over the sound system by way of the music. So there is good in it. I used to be very anti-Christmas but have moderate my position. I just avoid the worldly extremes and enjoy what is good, while knowing that every day contains the reality of Christmas, Resurrection Sunday, etc. Give Colossians 2 a read concerning our liberty in this regard.
