  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am not strict Buddhist.

I love the idea of Buddhism, I love Buddha's philosophy and his Four Noble Truths have helped me more than any prayer in the world has. I also practice meditation. I see it more as a philosophy than a religion and the one that has by far made the most sense to me.

Otherwise, I am very spiritual.

I'd love to try Buddhism. It seems like a truly noble, all-inclusive religion/philosphy. But every time I meditate, I end up falling asleep.

I am a Christian. I found it rather odd that most people in here are either Atheists or Christians.

The forums I hang around usually attract Muslims, Pagans, "Other-Church"es, and "Other-Religion"s

Buddhism is one of those things that isn't really a religion, and fits in nicely with nearly every religion/philosophy.

You're right actually. I dont view Buddhism as a religion as much as I view it as a philosophy. I found many things Buddhims preaches to be very true in practice.

hehe.

I think meditation is only for yourself, your own peace. Youre not required to do it to please others or the some other deity, its more of a ''your own thing'' so if you cant do it, its still good.

Even though I was brought up an Orthodox Christian (and I still have a alot of respect for my religion and traditions) my mom thought me how to meditate from an early age - she thought it would help me with school and to clear my mind - and it did :)
