My bathroom floor got wet, tiles snapped. I am not a construction worker or whatever. So I took the tiles off, saw the beginning of the floor lost board below. So I bought wood hardener and wood filler.

I was waiting to get more filler when my sons foot went through the floor.
So I found out from my friend that would be covered by insurance.
I explained the situation to the adjuster.
Waited for bids.

Found out today when I called to ask where to send the bid that I was 'denied'

1. Because I had too many revolving accounts out - which were student loans and paid off months ago. So much for up to date reporting.
And what does that have to do with insurance?

2. He said the claim was too late.
How could it be too late? I called after my sons foot went through. I had a roll of linoleum I had bought a few years ago. I was working on it.
AND he stated I neglected taking care of it.
Like I did it deliberately.

I can't even.

Can anyone tell why having accounts [which were paid off now] would affect insurance...?
I would bet it is TransUnion.
ABSOLUTELY slower than molasses.
I won a case years ago that I owed some money and 2 years later it jumped to $10,000 and I won.
No amount of interest is that high. [I lost my job at the time and my ex said he wouldn't pay my bills - which basically I used a card to get gas at $4 a gallon... ] because $30 a month was a bother as minimum payment and he made $4000 a month some years back.
and the magistrate letter I won was never placed on my reporting.

I am tired.
Like so tired.
So tired I can't even cry tbh.

:crossrc: :groupray: :crossrc: that I get the insurance to help cover costs

Aegis is the company. AND they never sent me a policy - ever.
I think a follow up call would have helped.
The only letter I got a few months ago that the company [in Ca] was no longer offering insurance in PA

Dang, a freak accident. I will pray for you, and that you can get the floor fixed. In these strange (read "strange" as "end") times, we will get tracked for everything, so even if you may be doing things correctly now, stuff from a few years ago may not be forgiven.

So anyway, they will not cover - because it was long term - though I only knew when my tiles started cracking. My son cut out part of wall to find why. It was not the shower, but the toilet line. Too late.
So they state it was negligence. I didn't know what was happening behind the toilet. It was not visible til tiles cracked.

Nope - not covered.

Is there any way you can have a friend fix this for cheap, or at bare material cost minus the labor costs?

I am sorry. I hate insurance with a passion. It's a necessary evil but they write policies that are impossible for the average person to understand the fine print and then use that fine print to find a reason to not pay most of the time. Have had them deny a couple of major claims recently.

I think every state had a state insurance board where you can file a complaint. It may or may not help but could be worth a try. And you need to insist they provide you with a copy of your policy and show where the reasons they give for not covering your loss are in the policy.

I wish.

I am working on working [once again] and hopefully can save a bit.
I know 2 guys who would do it for $1000, labor only. I have to buy all the items. Another $1500 to do my cheapest. I have tiles. I need to buy grout.
But I have $84 and I need to get a new tire to go out and do deliveries again.

So I guess just trust Jesus. He asks us to trust Him. :crossrc:
So if He wants me down to nothing, humbled I guess, then that's where I am.

Trust in Jesus. $1000 might work. If you have to drop subscription services to save money (such as Wokeflix aka. Netflix), you can. I watch most of my TV on library DVDs, which are free to rent in my area.

I am going to look for a copy.
IF I have open peril, it is possible, unless exclusions are [negligence] and over time.

I have been doing all I can afford which is nothing.
I use a tub by the line leading out of the tank line. I have to keep emptying it.

I am studying for insurance, so it helps me know the provisions. Because the test is going to be a toughy.

I am gaining weight and my feet are swelling to top things off.
[I quit smoking 2 years ago and I regret it because diabetes is rearing it's ugly head.

I pay my bills and one credit which is $30 a month and still paying off my credit for the business I lost.
My daughter put me on Netflix. And my phone tbh.
My son pays for internet.
I have a subscription for pretty litter every 8 weeks. $25. My cat needs it.

I live on bare minimum.

You might have to sell your cat, if you can put up with the pain of selling a cat to another owner. Sometimes, you have to put your needs above anything else.

Her food is $11 that lasts a few months and her litter is $25 that lasts.

She is my buddy and I wouldn't do that.
She's my little shadow and bed warmer in the winter.

Maybe another area to save is the A/C. My air conditioner is set to 77-78 degrees F in the summer, which reduces electricity usage.

My windows upstairs are the only functioning windows [My old ones are drafty and I need new ones] and they are side to side.

My electric was $56 for lack of using electricity.
But air conditioner in the 90's is necessary.
All air comes down stairs to help my fans.

I run my A/C at 77 degrees, and my place stays 77 degrees even when the outside temp is 95 degrees. Good job on saving electricity. My electric is more expensive, cos the electric company charges a flat-rate connection fee, even if electricity is not used. My fridge is set to 39 degrees, and freezer to 2 degrees, which saves electricity, while also keeping food cold. During winter, one can set the heat to 60-65 degrees to save on heating bills, and layer up.

Maybe we should do a donation project to get WA started for saving . If anyone is interested you can PM me. We used to do this stuff for fellow OBOB’ers back in our busier days.

State Insurance Board. That's the ticket.

I agree. This would be a good project. I donate to Keep Wisconsin Warm/Cool, but I do hope that this donation project goes well.
