  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am planning my baptism.

it seems good, to post this thread here. As I said in my introductory post, I found Jesus, for the first time, about two years ago. It was shortly after I developed what has turned into a chronic illness. Back then, I decided that it would be as good a time as any to pick up the Bible.

It was an audio book of the King James Version. It seems like it would be an interesting thing to read, to pass the time. It ended up changing my life. I started off with the first few books of the Old Testament and read those. On the advice of many people I skip to the Gospels. That is when the message really started to hit me. I read all of them, reasonably quickly. Then, again.

By this time, almost everybody was telling me that I should not have started with King James, but with a more contemporary version. I agree, to some extent; but my attachment to the form of the Bible which found me, remains. I still love it! Even though, I use other translations to read different books, or, to re-examine something I had read in the past.

I hope to get a more contemporary audio version of the Bible for my birthday.

Anyway, my news is that I have decided to be baptised in the name of Christ. I am just waiting for some bad medication to get out of my system, so that I feel happier and more like myself, when I do it. The fact that the medication has affected me, badly, has not changed my commitment to God.

I have spoken and read about the significance of my undertaking with friend, who is a minister. He will also perform the ceremony.

I just wanted to share this news.
