  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So I know that I am screwed. I live a sinful life and I mean sinful. I drink, cuss, sleep with women, and even court a prostitute from time to time. I believe in christ but I don't know what to do. I feel addicted to my sins. How can I recommit my life and get back on the right track? Someone told me that God doesn't even hear my prayers anymore. I think there's a verse in the bible about it if u sin too much u will be rejected. I suck at life honestly.

Someone else told me to just ask for forgiveness. I've done that a million times but I keep going back to the sins.

Help,

hi all you have to do is ask for forgivness and belive and ask jesus into your life then your are saved.

john 3:16 says that you just have to belive in him to be saved, but to belive isnt enough the devil belives in him. you have to belive and walk with him(ask him into your life) then you are forgiven for ALL your sins no matter what you do in the future or what you have done. :) just ask.

There are a lot of misconceptions about what being a Christian is .

Jesus died for us, to 'receive' him or 'get saved', we are to accept that He died for us, repent from our sin, and ask for forgivenss.

BUT, we are all sinners, being saved doesn't mean we STOP sinning, it means that our conscience becomes more sensative to it.

God's grace and mercy is far greater than our sins. Don't let your sins hold you back from giving your life to Christ. The big word here is repent. To repent is to turn away and you would be turning away from sin. Many here can confess that it's a struggle to turn from pleasurable things when it feels so good. Have you given thought to joining a church? God doesn't want us to live miserable lives as believers. He wants us to live abundantly, and to enjoy our life. But there are obvious bounderies. The things you listed above can harm you in the long run, and it doesn't take much thinking to know this. When you commit yourself to God, you are going to need to rely on his strength not to fall into these temptations. And with joining a church, you can be with other believers who can help support you through hard times of turning away from these things and be accountable to.

Hi Guy

First let me tell you that scripture says that God does not want any to perish not even one!

That is why He is giving us all time to come to repentance and to place our faith and trust in Jesus!

You say that you believe in Jesus, but that you continue in your corrupt lifestyle. Well friend you need to do more than just believe in Jesus - Satan believes in Jesus too! You need to accept that He has died for your sins - all of them, past present and future, you need to confess that you need a saviour (Jesus) and you need to accept that He accepts you as you are right now. Not that He will leave you where you are - He will want you to change to be like Him.

You raise the question of the 'unforgiveable sin' - IMO the only unforgiveable sin is to attribute God's works to the devil thus sinning against the Holy Spirit - every other sin is forgivable and when confessed and repented (turned away from) is dealt with.

So to respond to your OP, IMO you are not lost, unless you choose to be and you do not need to choose to go to hell. You are right that eternaal life is about choice - and as it says in scripture God has placed before you Life and Death - Choose Life!!!!

Guy,

Once you take the first step of asking for and recieving forgiveness, you need to find and join a good biblically based church. Find a (or some) good Christian men friends to help you in your walk and you need to keep yourself accountable to them!

As far as I know that is probably the only way to keep out of temptations snare and in the will of God for your life.

I hope this is helpful, if not IM me.

Eh, don't just ask for forgiveness. Repent. This means that you recognize what you have done is a sin, and that you agree with God's point of view on it. It's an active thing, not just "ask for forgiveness and forget about it", but rather "ask for forgiveness, identify when you want to do it again, then don't". Turning from it is extremely difficult, I know. I've done exactly as you have in the past. When I wanted to do something that I knew was I sin, I would try to say in my heart "not doing this is a gift to you, my Lord", and then it would be hard for me to take that gift back. Sin is addicting, don't be discouraged. When we start out with our faith, we are weak. Keep God on your mind and continue to exercise a concious choice to follow him. You'll change, but it won't be in a single step.

Repentance is a life long journey for the Christian, and it's essentially turning from sin completely and toward God.

Ask yourself the following things, too:

Would God be proud of me if I were doing this infront of him?
Did my sin hurt anyone else or destroy anything someone has worked for? If so, how can I correct it?

We do not change and to go God. We go to God with all our heart, and God changes us.

Let me show you something.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear.

2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

3 For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

Talk to Him. Ask Him to guide your steps on the road of righteousness. Read the Bible. Repent from the former lifestyle. Put God first, others second, yourself third.

God will work with you on this, but you first have to humble yourself, that you may be exalted. If you don't acknowledge the thirst, you can't quench it.

PM me if you would like further help on this. I'll do as much as I can for you -- but in the end, it all boils down to you. God can do it, but He won't do it if you won't let Him.

Praying for you.

I believe in christ but I don't know what to do.

WHAT exactly do you believe about Christ? What else do you believe about sin and forgiveness?

You're feeling condemned because of your sins, GOOD! The Law always accuses us and it's doing a good job on you. As someone else stated, you will always sin while here on earth. You can make attempts to lessen some of those sins, but not to try to earn your way to heaven. If you want to lessen your sins it would be BECAUSE you are forgiven and you are thankful and see how your sins badly affect your life and the lives around you.

Your posting sounds of one in despair. The Gospel is given to us to alleviate those fears and give us hope and comfort. The Gospel message is that we are fallen and can't help but sin. God came to earth in the form of man and lived a perfectly obedient life, died on the cross and rose again on the third day and ascended into heaven. You are forgiven because Christ (who is God) died in your substitute!

Now, you say you believe in Christ, but do you believe in the above paragraph? Do you believe that Christ died so you could have eternal life? Do you know you're forgiven? Has it ever been told to you?

Repent - turn away from sin and towards God. I know it is not easy but it is very much worth it. We humans are not ever going to be happy - truly happy if we are not in a pure communion with God. we were designed to be in direct contact with the creator. Since we have lost that we attempt to fill that void with other things. Sex, drugs, enjoyment...carnal pleasure...entertainment. They all fail and lead you to where you are now. Are you happy now? No.

So this is what you have to decide. Do you want to be happy? If so then how are you going to go about it? Your prior methods have failed.
(Proverbs 26:11) As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.

(2 Peter 2:22) But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

Turn away from these things that drag you down into the world. Turn to the one that can set you free. Rebel against the world.

Every time you fall down, get right back up and beg Christ to forgive you.

This is the only way to salvation. You must keep trying to persevere in the faith.

Christ is offering you the grace, and you must keep accepting this grace until the day you die.

We are all sick sinners. None of us are free from sin. Christ is the Only Sinless One.

Yet, Christ offers us salvation if we will just try to do our best.

Repent. Keep on praying and you will be saved.

Do you pray? Have you confessed your sins to Christ and asked forgiveness?

I agree with the others on here that have admitted that we are all sinners, of which I am probably the worst. My sins begin in my head as a thought. Once I learned this little prayer to help me erase the thought, or at least move past it, I found that I was able to stay focused on NOT falling victim to that sin again.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

You would be amazed at how many times during any given day that little prayer has helped me. I've prayed it so much, alone in private, and silently in my head, that the thoughts that used to begin a sinful act are fewer and farther between. I can block them by using that prayer.

I hope this helps. Believing in Christ is the first step to beginning a life with Him. He loves you, and He'll forgive you. Let Him do what He does best, while you move ahead trying to do YOUR very best.

Guy,

We are all sinners.

We all need to repent and turn from our sin.

None of us are designed by God to walk the walk of faith alone.

We need one another!

Your situation as you have described it appears beyond what can really be addressed on the Internet.

You need to be in a church and accountable to mature Christian men.

If you really desire a more faithful walk, allow little rest until you are in an accountable relationship with a Godly Pastor and a few faithful men who love God.

Rest assured you're not alone in these struggles. We all have areas of weakness that the world, the flesh, and the devil seek to exploit.

Once the devil loses the battle for your soul, he turns his attention to making you ineffective as a believer.

Seek and ye shall find, I bid you Godspeed as you seek to draw near to Him.

PM me if you like,

Tychicus

True, it is not easy, but you must repent. Christ is the only one that can make you free, and nothing else. You are trapped, and have no will to quit what you do that is making you miserable. This will take a lot of prayer to break. If you really want to accept Christ as your Savior, and if you really want to be free of this misery, then God is convicting you of this. Listen to God. What you are doing will lead to death. It will never make you happy. It will make you miserable, and more and more miserable as time goes on.

I will pray for you too. :crosseo:

Galatians 5:17 The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict.

Also read the words of Paul concerning our fallen nature in the flesh and its pull upon us:

Romans 7:15 I don’t understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do the very thing I hate.
16 I know perfectly well that what I am doing is wrong, and my bad conscience shows that I agree that the law is good.
17 But I can’t help myself, because it is sin inside me that makes me do these evil things.
18 I know I am rotten through and through so far as my old sinful nature is concerned. No matter which way I turn, I can’t make myself do right. I want to, but I can’t.
19 When I want to do good, I don’t. And when I try not to do wrong, I do it anyway.
20 But if I am doing what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing it; the sin within me is doing it.
21 It seems to be a fact of life that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong.
22 I love God’s law with all my heart.
23 But there is another law at work within me that is at war with my mind. This law wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me.
24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin?
25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.
1 ¶ So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
2 For the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you through Christ Jesus from the power of sin that leads to death.
3 The law of Moses could not save us, because of our sinful nature. But God put into effect a different plan to save us. He sent his own Son in a human body like ours, except that ours are sinful. God destroyed sin’s control over us by giving his Son as a sacrifice for our sins.
4 He did this so that the requirement of the law would be fully accomplished for us who no longer follow our sinful nature but instead follow the Spirit.
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
6 If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace.

Only through the work of our Lord and Savior Jesus can we have power over sin and victory in our lives. We overcome by blood of the Lamb and the testimony that we have of fighting the good fight of faith against sin in our lives. Never give up and lay down in sin. Fight on in the faith and grace God gives you to grow up in.

1Ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

2Pe 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Re 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Psa 19:1 To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David. The heavens are sounding the glory of God; the arch of the sky makes clear the work of his hands.
Psa 19:2 Day after day it sends out its word, and night after night it gives knowledge.
Psa 19:3 There are no words or language; their voice makes no sound.

_________________________________
Does the Lord have forgiveness for us?

Psa 78:34 When he sent death on them, then they made search for him; turning to him and looking for him with care;
Psa 78:35 In the memory that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their saviour.
Psa 78:36 But their lips were false to him, and their tongues were untrue to him;
Psa 78:37 And their hearts were not right with him, and they did not keep their agreement with him.
Psa 78:38 But he, being full of pity, has forgiveness for sin, and does not put an end to man: frequently turning back his wrath, and not being violently angry.

Psa 86:5 You are good, O Lord, and full of forgiveness; your mercy is great to all who make their cry to you.
Psa 86:6 O Lord, give ear to my prayer; and take note of the sound of my requests.
Psa 86:7 In the day of my trouble I send up my cry to you; for you will give me an answer.

Psa 106:43 Again and again he made them free; but their hearts were turned against his purpose, and they were overcome by their sins.
Psa 106:44 But when their cry came to his ears, he had pity on their trouble:
Psa 106:45 And kept in mind his agreement with them, and in his great mercy gave them forgiveness.

Isa 55:7 Let the sinner give up his way, and the evil-doer his purpose: and let him come back to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for there is full forgiveness with him.
