I have posted in both but it is pointless to try to make a blind man understand light. All we are really called to do is to tell the truth and leave the rest to God. You are doing a great job BTW.

Absolutely! You would never argue with a blind man, trying to make him see a tree! Until our sweet Lord opens the ears, removes the scales from the eyes the sight in totally inoperative! It is only by His grace!

I pray that your concern will be used by our Lord for His glory!

That poor, blind man, he refuses to look anymore at God's sovereignty. Go have another look, and perhaps it's time to brush the dust off your sandals. There's a reason I put that in my sig. It's to remind me that our primary responsibility is preach the whole counsel of God faithfully. If we are consistent and true to our Reformed understanding, we know that the conviction of these people of their errors rests ultimately not with our ability to convince by sheer force of logical argument, but on the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

That's why I only go there for short periods of time - say my piece and get out!!! We also need to recognize that we aren't going to change some people's mindset - that is beyond our capabilities. Best advice - enjoy the debate, don't take it personally, and be confident in your doctrine.

The funny thing is that I didn't realize I was in there for a debate!
Before I knew it I was being attacked for saying things I didn't say and all that, boy, was I red in the face! I felt aweful! I wasn't prepared at all! So I hope I am not making too much of a muck of things...

That is good advice. I know that sometimes I hang with someone longer than I ought. As witnesses we have to tell them what the Word says, but we do not have to be drawn into lengthy, often circular, debate about it.

Yeah, I have seen her around. She gets pretty riled up and the replies are SO LONG {It took me an hour and a half just to respond and then it wouldn't even fit in the thread!}, but I think it is getting a little better now . The OP got pretty perterbed about her veering off the original topic, so we've decided to take it to a PM. Things are looking more civil now! Haha! Wonder how long that will last!

A lot of it is sometimes just repeating comments that have already been said, or comments that aren't really arguments or meaningful assertions. I tend to just delete that and respond just to the arguments that seem meaningful.

Man, it's so hard to make sense of things when someone is throwing a million questions at you at a time. But I guess that's one of their tactics: "Just confuse the heck out of em', they won't know what to say! "... Ha ha!

General Theology is such a mess, a lot of people don't act out of charity at all there! Because of that I try to avoid it but sometimes the temptation is just too great!

I think there will be a lot less Catholic influence there in the coming weeks because I think we're boycotting it? Oh well, peace to you all!

Sorry man...gotta disagree with you. God doesn't control our every action. God gives us choices to make. Remember..God didn't create incredibly complex brains for nothing. By saying that God has pre-destined our every action is EXACTLY saying that all the creativity God put into our head...the complexity of the brains He made was for no purpose what so ever.

The original poster of that first thread was saying just that...that we are under God's will..but ultimately we make the final decision in our actions. (besides...if everyone was pre-destined..that would mean God CHOSE people to go to hell. And God is not sadistic like that)
