A few weeks ago I was reading the bible and had a great religious experience (opened the door), I saw my sins and prayed for forgiveness and felt relieved. The next week I only slept a few hours each night because I was reading the gospels, being entirely swallowed by them.

My concern is this, Jesus talks of so many things that I feel compelled to do, however I find that I can't go all the way, and doing everything that he has commanded. Is my faith to small?

I still sin, but to a smaller degree and hate myself afterwards and then I pray for forgiveness for all my sins, both the ones that I know and all those that I didn't catch myself in (hate those, must study harder!). I feel disgusting and ungraceful. I really can't see why I should be saved.

Sigh... I haven’t even told my friends of my coming to Christ. I am so terribly ashamed. I really don't fell like I deserve to be saved!

I am not well versed in the bible yet, but it just seems that you have to do so much more than just accepting him fully as your saviour and realising that you’re in need of forgiveness for all your sins!

I know that I don't deserve to be but... am I saved?

You don't alot of faith...
Matthew 17:20 "20He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Tell your friends! I know when I first because a Christian I was a bit nervous to tell people, because I had been a staunch atheist for years, and it felt wierd. But it was nice to share it, and people were happy for me. You'll never be perfect, we are humans and we are limited. But God knows this and loves us still! And thats' what so great about him! No one will ever deserve to be saved, even the greatest among us, but it's ok. Good luck!

!. If you accepted Jesus as your savior, repented of your sins and meant your prayer sincerely, you are saved. All who call on the name of the Lord, shall be saved!!

Yes, I once felt like.. Hmm how can I be saved? satan tends to play those little tricks on you, your mind is his playground. Talk to God about it.
satan will try telling you this is wrong, thats wrong and that may be why your not letting yourself realize everything in the Bible (like you said)

Reading the bible is the best thing you could be doing right now and you will start to feel your place. God will show you the way he wants you to go.

I got rushed into thinking I had to do all this for God, but let me tell you a secret, do things with God, he will show you the way.
We are ALL sinners, but like everyone else when you do, you feel bad and repent. We just keep trying to turn away from those sins, again pray to god for strength and guidance.
In the Bible, Jesus spoke a lot of parables, sometimes hard for some of us to understand and sometimes what we think He was talking of, isnt what it is.
May I suggest you start posting questions about things you dont understand?

and spread the word of your salvation, you just told millions of people on here. Good news is meant to be spread.
If your not in a church yet, may I suggest atleast a bible study to help nourish you in Gods word.

The Lord has changed my life, it took awhile but He did. I still have along way to go, but with the Lord, It will be done His way!

Ill be praying for you!
keep on your path --- God will guide you.

You are having the normal thoughts which every true, sincere and humble christian has.

IMHO no sincere christian can say "I am saved." because the Bible says that "He who overcometh till the end, He alone is saved.". And, in Philippians 2:12 the Bible says "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling" (with the help of Almighty God).

The Bible also says "He that began a good work (of salvation) in us will be faithful to complete it in us." So, thats a strong encouraging Word for us.

When a christian asked me "Are you saved?" i really had to explain this opinion of mine.

From your post, i have no doubts that you have experienced being born-again. This is what Lord Jesus Christ meant when He said "Unless a man is born of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."

The Bible says in Romans 8:24 "For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?". So, we are saved by hope. And this hope we carry till the end of our lives. And we cannot see or guarantee that we are saved. We can only hope and trust in His Divine Word that we are saved and being saved on a daily basis till the end (by the keeping power of God).

The Bible also says in Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:". So, we are saved purely by the grace of God. And this salvation is simply a free gift from God for believing Him and His Word and humbling ourselves before Him, for confessing and repenting sincerely of our sins and for deciding to live a life pleasing in His sight doing His will.

If any of your friends enquire you regarding your change, you can speak out without feeling ashamed because of 2 reasons - (1) We ought not to be ashamed to confess that we belong to Lord Jesus Christ and (2) There is nothing like an instant-sinless-christian. You can say that you are saved by grace and are working out your salvation with fear and trembling with the help of Lord Jesus Christ who is the Author and Finisher of our Faith. So, we are saved not because we are perfect or good but because we have decided to believe on Him and have sincerely repented of our sins and decided to live as per His will.

So, i sincerely urge you to get along and continue being thick-skinned to what others may think. I also urge you to read Chapter of Acts and Paul's Letters and complete reading the entire New Testament. If you had done that you would have had the answers to your questions. However, it is good that you posted the question so that all may discuss and all who read this thread may recieve comfort and help.

Lord bless you.
