hypothetically: If you do not age

Let us say by some miracle, God stopped the ticking clock of your body for undetermined purpose and you stopped ageing at 22 years of age.

And now, you are 45, but you still looked like 22 and still hasn't settled in life. How could you possibly go on with life normally??

How is it possible to deal with job applications, legal stuff, applications/registrations, relationships with people your age, etc.??

At the age of 60 and still hasn't aged since 22, what now?? Who's gonna believe you?? How is it possible to still assume an identity??

How would you deal with religious people who might think you are being possessed by an evil spirit? And for superstitious people who might think you are a vampire??

What about memories and learning? I thought you meant a physical ageing processes. But psychologically, what do you mean. I would have 20 years of extra memories, at least?

Seriously?? But that would require you to be a Catholic, right? What if you don't go to church anymore and avoid church if possible? I don't think they could issue a certificate as they won't be able to ascertain the miracle came from God.

If you are already settled in life, it probably will be a problem-free existence until of course, the system catches up with you.

If you are not settled, you may have to move very often. Meeting new people in the process, new jobs.

Getting a job may be of less concern if you could spectacularly impress you interviewers. But you will eventually meet new people. Word spreads around so fast. You could lie about your age but it will catch up to you later on. You might impress the young, but those around your age would feel insecure around you.

And how about old friends, don't you think they will grow insecure and even jealous of your agelessness? It will be difficult to socialize with people your age. It will be easy socializing with people a lot younger if you could actually enjoy their company and tolerate the generation gap.

And if you really had the gift, eventually, you'll be 80 and then 120, 150, at that point, it's impossible to dodge the legal implications.

On the other hand, the gift could turn you into a celebrity under the right circumstances. Like working for a very long lived company where you get to meet a lot of people like teaching in a university or working as an actor.

I'm past 50 but fitter and healthier than I've been since my teen years. Anyway, I also don't have many wrinkles because I have vampire white skin (I stay out of the sun), but I do have grey hair. I'm sometimes asked if why I don't dye my hair to match my age, which I presume means people think I'm younger than I am. Having a petite type physique and small facial features, I was also plagued by requests for ID until my mid-20s, in a country in which legal age is 18.

Doesn't qualify for the 'eternal youth' you refer to, but it's a modest version of it.

Well, that would be their problem, wouldn´t it?

But I would have the body and the mindset of a young person, wouldn´t I? So why would I want to socialize with old people more than any other young person would?
Btw. I don´t know there is a problem with cross-generation socializing. I´m close to 60, and most of my friends and social contacts are 20, 30, 40 years younger than me.

It's an involved but extremely easy process to get a new identity if you know how to game and play the system. I'd get a new identity every 20 years or so.

Wait.. are we to suppose you just looked 22 but had a normal life span? Or that you just became immortal (more or less) and going to remain at 22 years old and that you would still accumulate knowledge?

Anyone who lives for 200 years with a 22 year old body and brain would eventually rule the entire world. The accumulated knowledge and wisdom would easily out-wit all stock markets..

I could just hang out with youths for-ever, doing nothing more than just that, that would be a huge difference in general. Although I think I'm getting a rather young wife eventually so in other regards - tremendously much more fulfilling relationship which I believe I'll have anyway - there's no actual difference.
But I'd HATE to stay at the maturity level.
You didn't mention learning abilities, if You meant to do I'd love to be able to learn languages but hate undeveloped brain.
Working would be fine as people would assume I have muscles (well I didn't when I was 22 - had just first starved severely than having eaten some).
Dealing with religious people - I'd have a hard time convincing anyone I'm right, extremely hard time, usually (fellow?) scholars only appreciate high education or having learned things other ways, analysis, memory, perspective, thoroughness - few seriously religious researching persons would believe I have much of that. I could "impress" a few youths by being interested of languages but that would be all.
All-in-all I would never reach a level of understanding and knowledge I desire, I would never become the fully religious person - actually not at all because of hormones but because of being stuck at the age of 22:

I suppose you could find a 22 year old that you could pass for...kill him...and assume his identity.

Then repeat this every 10-15 years or so.

From a biblical standpoint, Adam and Eve were originally designed to live forever in a youthful healthy condition.
But sustaining that condition demanded sinlessness. Once they sinned they lost that privilege, began to age past their prime and died. Unfortunately we, their descendants, inherited their flawed condition and also age past our prime and die.
So the problem for mankind isn't regaining its intended ability to live forever. The problem for mankind is the bodily deterioration which ultimately leads to death.

With luck, authorities might believe the testimonies of people over the years of your agelessness and inevitably, you turn into a celebrity overnight.

Is being a celebrity a good thing?

Maybe not. If you can live indefinitely and everyone knows it. Some people might want you dead. Over the course of history, the way people run things change in an unending quest in consolidating power and subtly exercising absolute control over the masses. Obviously, these people wouldn't want a witness of previous generations and which is obviously you. And they wouldn't just kill you, they'll probably experiment with you first how you could sustain your DNA without any deterioration.

It seems to me that a person with 150 year of life experience but with the agility and performance of a 20 year old would be very attractive for every employer.

It seems naive to assume prospective employers would believe your case.

They would certainly be impressed by your skills if they give you the opportunity to demonstrate them. But they will sure doubt your identity by the outrageous number on your age. They will most certainly think you are a spy or undercover agent working for a clandestine org and reject your application right away.

Why would you want to collect a pension? Just work a comfortable job until you have build up enough money to live off your savings, then persue pleasures?

I don't get why people get all soppy with "my friends are going to die, boohoo", when it has been shown that most people completely change their peer group in about 7 years. I know exactly 2 people outside of my family that I still have contact with on a regular basis who I have known 10 years ago.

There will be other people in 2200.

Why would I have to lie? All I would have to do is go to a bunch of researchers and make my condition known publicly. Everyone would be aware and I wouldn't have to move around beyond when I choose to do so. Some people might get jealous, but not enough to create a problem. I could meet new people, see new things, and take the time to explore things I wouldn't normally have a chance to do. Again, the people I befriend aren't so petty as to hate me for something like this and the people I would work for in my dream career wouldn't really care because academics can look like anything.

All I can think about is the number of philosophers who would make bad jokes about me at conferences and want to use me in their thought experiments about aging, death, and personal identity. The horror.

In the situation I am describing, I am presuming your cognitive abilities should increase through the years without degradation of the brain.

With the right conditions, which means like working as a professor in a highly respectable university and exploiting your gifts. by the age of 100, you would have been the most intelligent person alive. By the age of 200, much surprises await.

It would seem fame would help a lot as it could offer you some protection and establish a solid identity but as the years go by, you'll just get more and more famous and that might be a huge problem. Pretty sure, you'll make tons of money by that stage, you could pursue an acting or modeling career if you got the looks and work as a scientist during the weekends.

Of course not everyone would like fame to be an option and that's the problem!

Yes, accumulate knowledge. Pretty sure, by the age of 100, you'd be the most qualified person to lead the entire world, providing you are not corrupt and of good moral standing.

The role is absolutely UNappealing. You'll certainly have to face socio-political issues of unprecedented scale now that everyone can live anywhere they want and other people wanting to preserve their culture and resisting diversity. But probably, you'd be the only person to have the nerves of steel to handle such highly sensitive issues.
